Arkansas' Year in Review: #6 Genoa Central Claims 2nd Title in 3 Years

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The #6 story from 2014 was Genoa Central High School winning the 3A state title for the second time in three years. Chemistry, solid pitching, and an explosive offense led to the Dragons’ success. Their pitching staff was anchored by senior right hander Dillon Drabble (University of Central Arkansas) and was complimented by sophomore right hander Justin Swecker. Offensively they were dominate led by juniors Garrett Huff, middle infielder, Arkansas State commit, and Cale Ridling, outfielder, University of Arkansas Little Rock commit. The offense carried them scoring eight runs per game.  Besides winning the state title this group was rewarded with several postseason accolades. Drabble was the State Tournament MVP winning two games in the tournament including a complete game shutout in the final. Huff was the catalyst at the top of the line-up and was selected as All-State and All State Tournament.
