BC KC Rawlings Prospects Walk-off with Championship on Sunday

The Building Champions KC Rawlings Prospects won the Tournaments of Champions 14 & Under Major tournament covered by Prep Baseball Report and held at the Kansas City, Missouri 3&2 complex this past weekend. 

Saturday’s pool play ended with the Topeka Tornados leading the pack at 2-0.

In Sunday’s championship round the BC KC Rawlings Prospects captured game one over BC-Pascuzzi by a score of 16-7.  Michael Picollo led the offense for the Prospects with a 2-for-3 game with a double, run scored, three RBI and a HBP. 

Brandon Carvan and Max Abramovich both reached base three times, scoring three times while Logan Pittman drove in four runs for the Prospects in the win.  Connor Cahill contributed to four of their sixteen runs scored by scoring twice and driving in two. 

Carvan picked up the win and Braeden Hinton threw the final inning and one-third to close things out.  Joseph Clune went 1-for-2 with two RBI and Sam Pascuzzi pitched one and two-thirds innings of no-hit relief with two strikeouts for BC-Pascuzzi in the loss.

The Topeka Tornadoes won game two by a score of 8-2 over the Diamond Masterz to advance to the championship game.

The BC KC Rawlings Prospects scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the championship in walk-off fashion.  Jack Brimacombe (3-for-3), Carvan (2-for-3, R, RBI), Picollo (2-for-3, R) and Nick Purcell (1-for-3, 2 RBI) lead the offense for the Prospects. 

Pittman started for the Prospects pitching six strong innings giving up two runs and striking out five.  Down 4-2 in the top of the seventh the Torndadoes mounted a comeback plating three runs to make it a 5-4 game going into the bottom of the seventh before Rawlings notched the 6-5 walk-off win by scoring twice in the final half-inning.  Braeden Hinton got the win in relief recording the final three outs in the top of the seventh for the Prospects.
