Bellport 7 - West Babylon 4

West Babylon took on Coach Batewell's Bellport Clippers in a great battle as both teams are known for their pitching and defense.  In the top of the first Timmy Kranz started from the mound showing confidence as he struck out the first two hitters.  The opposing pitcher Nick Dunning helped his out cause by ripping a single up the middle.  To end the inning Dellisola throws out Dunning who attempted to be greedy and was thrown out stealing.  In the bottom of the second inning Kranz had some pay-back as he rocketed a single back up the middle.  Later in the inning he stole second base putting him in scoring position, but Dunning gets out of the inning with the score tied 0-0.  In the top of the second Mike Viet leads off with a big-time double, Joseph Greco then walks making it first and second with no one men out.  Pass ball moves Viet and Greco to second and third, but Kranz battles back and strikes out the next hitter.  With runners still on second and third a failed squeeze attempt makes it two outs with Greco advancing to third base.  Kranz works his way out of the jam stranding Greco on third base, a missed opportunity for Bellport.  In the top of the third Dunning has a nice 1-2-3 inning. Kranz got into a little bit of trouble when Jankowskie lead off with a single, Kail Mclean drops a successful bunt to move runner to third base then walks the next hitter creating runners at the corner.  Kranz bears down and gets out of the jam leaving runners at the corners.

Score still knotted up at 0-0. In the bottom of the fourth with an error and a walk runners are at 1st and 2nd with two outs.  An infield single from Dellisore scores the first run of the game. Dunning then gets the next hitter to fly-out with West Babylon leading now 1-0.  The score would remain that way until the sixth inning when Murry leads off the inning with a walk and then Dunning adds a base hit.  Runners are now on first and second with no one out.  Viet steps up with an RBI single to make the score 2-1 West Babylon.  Connor Lyons steps up to the plate and delivers a base hit to tie the game at two showing some no signs of nerves.  West Babylon answered back real quick as they put up 2 more runs. An error by Heaton and a stolen-base giving Kranz the opportunity to drive in an RBI double to take the 3-2 lead.  West Babylon wasn’t finished just yet as Joe Zappio adds a base hit RBI single to make the score 4-2.

Heading into the top of the seventh inning Kranz exits the game and Kail Mclean leads off the inning with a single. Garrett Heaton rips a shot into left field.  With runners on first and second Jason Murry drops a bunt down to move the runners into scoring position.  With sloppy defense from West Babylon , Bellport now has bases-loaded.  Dunning with two hits already in the game steps up and get a sac-fly to right scoring Mclean.  Score now 4-3 still in favor or West Babylon.  Joe Greco steps up with two-outs and belts a single up the middle driving in two runs.  For the first time in the game Bellport takes the lead.  Score is now 5-4.  Following Greco's single Adam Colon hits a moonshot triple to left-field scoring Greco to make the score 6-4.  Clippers weren’t done yet as Lyons ripped a shot back up the middle scoring Colon making it open it up. Score now 7-4 heading into the seventh inning Connor Lyons escapes some early trouble allowing a hit and a walk but settles down on the bump ending the game with two big punch-outs.  Big win for Bellport as they’re now 2-1 heading into their next game.
