ImageOn day 1 of my East Coast and South Florida, I went and saw the Benjamin Buccaneers take on the Jupiter Christian Eagles. On the mound we had Liam Schulz against Cannon Baughman. The scoring got started early for the Buccaneers as Jackson Miller drew a leadoff walk and Tristan Head was hit by a pitch. Both later scored in the inning, one on an RBI single from Freddie Beruvides. The Eagles immediately answered back in the bottom half of the 1st on a couple errors from Benjamin. Gabe Roque also singled in the inning. With 1-out in the 2nd Jackson Miller gave Benjamin back the lead with an oppo taco homerun.

The lead for Benjamin wasn’t held for long as AJ Seymour doubled and was driven in by Nolan Feyereisen to even up the game at 3 heading to the 3rd inning.

Sam Martorella led off the 3rd with a single and then Brandon Roberts doubled to give Jupiter Christian the lead.

Just like the previous innings, a go-ahead run was immediately answered by a game tying run. Nick Banner doubled to lead off  the 4th and was driven in by Tristan Head. An additional run was scored on a wild pitch to give Benjamin back the lead. Johnny Havlicek came in relief for the Buccaneers and worked 3 innings of shutout relief. Working out of a couple jams along the way.

Jackson Miller would continue to stay hot and doubled to lead off the 6th inning and then later scored on a Tristan Head sac-fly. Walker Buchanan also doubled in the inning and was driven in by Rocco Gaeta to give Benjamin a 7-4 lead.

Tristan Head came in to close out the game and worked a clean 1-2-3 inning to earn the save.
