Bishop Noll Rallies to Beat Munster 6-5



 

On a windy night in North Hammond, Bishop Noll scored in three consecutive innings to beat Munster 6-5. Bishop Noll took an early 2-0 lead off the bat of Junior Danny Pobereyko (uncommitted), who also pitched 4 2/3IP, striking out 7 while giving up 5 runs.
 
Munster would pull even at 2-2 in the 3rd inning, after a two run double by Sophomore Alex Del Rio. It would be all Munster until the 5th inning. In the top half of the 5th, Munster scored three runs off two hits; one by Alex Del Rio, the other from Senior Mark Strbjk, putting Munster ahead of Noll 5-2.
 
Noll would then score one run in the 5th, two runs in the 6th, and one run in the 7th to beat Munster 6-5. Angel Figueroa had a day for Bishop Noll, going 3-3 with a double and a run scored. Meanwhile, Junior Pitcher Chad Mateja did his part, holding the game close in the late half of the 5th inning,and shutting down Munster in the 6th, to set the stage for some drama in the bottom half of the 7th. Matt Sandoval from Bishop Noll singled home Senior Cody Moskovsky on a bang-bang play at the plate, scoring the game winning run 6-5. 
 
Surprising Player of the Day: Junior Julian Guerrero from Bishop Noll. Guerrero game in the game to pitch the 7th, giving up no runs and striking out two of the three he faced. He had a very live arm, climbing 81-83mph on his fastball, with a heavy off speed pitch to compliment his sneaky fastball.
