Scouting Report

10/14/18 - 6-foot-1, 181-pound frame. Extremely advanced physicality. Manzo continues to show that he's the top available junior bat in Arizona. Posted 93 mph exit velocity. Gliding forward to foot strike, Manzo creates a strong base and solid separation, keeping his hands back as well as anyone before showing elite bat speed to drive the ball with authority to all fields. The physical 6-foot-1, 181-pound prospect consistently produces in game action and I have no problem saying he could hit for any program in the country. He also posted a better 60-yard dash time that we've seen previously with a 7.24. Defensive future remains somewhat in question (LF/1B or possibly 3B), but the bat will play anywhere on the diamond including DH.

8/3/18 - No doubt high-D1 bat with some questions about where he its best defensively. Manzo is extremely short to the ball with bat speed and present strength. Manzo shows virtually no swing and miss, which makes the power/hit combo even more exciting. 3B, 1B and LF are the possible defensive destinations with LF likely the best fit if his run tool can tick up just slightly. He moves naturally out there and should be able to handle it as a way to get his bat in the lineup.

6/5/18 - 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame. Strong, athletic build. Manzo stood out during BP, driving the baseball with authority to the pull side and showing a combination of strength and bat speed that could produce real power. Generates serious whip of the bat head. His 94 mph exit velocity was second-best at the entire event. His future defensively is less clear, however the bat could play enough to settle in at first base if necessary. Posted an 80 mph infield velocity and ran a 7.39 60-yard dash.

PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
Manzo: I really liked the coaches and the high academics.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Manzo: Miami, Houston, New Mexico State, Long Beach state, Utah, Kansa State, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, Ohio State, and Arizona.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop?
Manzo: They first saw me play at the junior fall classic. Our relation ship developed through phone calls.
PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
Manzo: Yes, I wanted to make my decision before big school season started, that way I could focus on that.
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
Manzo: The location of the school
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Manzo: My parents, Lou Frazier, Rex Gonzalez, and Jordan Banfield.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
Manzo: I wasn’t expecting as many calls as I got, it wasn’t too difficult once I started talking to more coaches.
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
Manzo: They plan for me to start and have a big impact my freshman season.
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
