Campus Series Top Five: Arm Strength

Over 200 players attended our 2019 Campus Series events with several players standing out each week. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be rolling out several different types of articles on the players from those Campus Series events. Today we look at the top five defensive arm-strengths we saw, who they were, and Dan Cevette gives his quick thoughts on the player.

TJ Palma SS / 2B / Iona Prep, NY / 2020

Attended: St. Johns
Infield Velo: 84

Cevette's Quick Hit: Wiry and active defender, multiple arm-slot capable, slightly over-the-top release with above average carry, would like to see him quicken up his glove to hand release. Sure handed up the middle, fun defender to watch.

Ryan Culhane RHP / OF / Clarence, NY / 2020

Attended: St. Bonaventure
Outfield Velo: 84

Cevette's Quick Hit: Physical build, broad shoulders, corner defender with strong arm-strength with carry to the bag from the OF. Culhane continues to improve the more we see him and there's definitely more velo in his arm.

Devin Mersmann SS / RHP / Pioneer, NY / 2020

Attended: St. Bonaventure
Infield Velo: 84

Cevette's Quick Hit: Wiry frame with easy weight projection, arm-strength back in July was advanced coming from a high 3/4 slot, more velo in the tank.

Quinn Hanafin 3B / OF / Sayre Area , PA / 2020

Attended: Ithaca
Infield Velo: 84

Cevette's Quick Hit: Active corner defender, well trained skillset, aggressive, throws form a 3/4 slot with clean arm-action with late carry.

Nick Constantino SS / 2B / Bridgton Academy, ME / 2020

Attended: St. Johns
Infield Velo: 84

Cevette's Quick Hit: Advanced defensive skillset, active lower half, clean open glove work, throws from a high 3/4 slot with more velo projection. Fun player to watch.
