Cherry Creek vs Dakota Ridge Game Recap 3/13/15
Cherry Creek starts out the young season with a solid 2-0 start. Defeating Arvada West 8-0 just a day before the season opener, the Bruins brought their bats on the road and picked up where they left off.
Top of 1, No 42 2015 Aeneas Roberson, 3 for 5 on the day, lead the game off with a triple to center field. Starting pitcher No. 16 2015 and Kansas commit Blake Goldsberry drove an RBI single up the middle to get the Bruins on top first. Goldsberry had a stellar day going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's.
Bottom of 1, starting pitcher/center fielder No. 15 2016 Bailey Collins (2 for 4), strikes back quickly with an impressive opposite field homerun to tie the game 1-1.
Top of 2, after a lead off walk by No. 67 2015 OF Carson Jax, No. 13 2016 SS/RHP Nate Sweeney (1 for 4) singled to left field. Roberson hits into a fields choice, beats out the throw to first base, Jax advances to third. Roberson, steals second base, bringing up Blake Benedetti. Benedetti hits a ground ball to SS and beats out the throw, scoring Jax. Bruins take a 2-1 lead.
Bottom of 2, Dakota Ridge fails to deliver and leaves the bases loaded on an ground ball double play to end the inning.
Top of 3, Dylan Cavey walks to lead off the inning. He advances to 2B on a botched pick off. This brings up Senior No. 49 2015 Parker Jax (1 for 3) who knocks an RBI single to LF giving the Bruins a 3-1 lead.
Bottom 3, No 56 2016 OF Ryan Faircloth leads off the inning with a single to CF, however that is all the Eagles could muster in the inning.
Top 4, No. 43 2016 Ty Lightley comes in relief of starter Bailey Collins. Roberson notches another leadoff single to CF and advances to 2B on a pass ball. Benedetti singles to CF advancing Roberson to 3B. Goldsberry strikes again with an RBI single up the middle giving the Bruins a 4-1 lead.
Bottom 4, Dakota Ridge has 3 hits in the inning led by Jason Grimes, Ty Lightley and Cavallaro, but can't manage to bring any runs in.
Top 5, Parker Jax reaches first on an error by the second baseman. Jax advances to third on a pass ball and ends up scoring on a dropped third strike over throw to 1B. Bruins up 5-1. Roberson adds another single to RF advancing Nate Sweeney to 3B. Benedetti RBI single to LF adds another run for Creek. 6-1. Bases loaded on a walk to Blake Goldsberry. Freshman Tanner O'Tremba drives and RBI single up the middle scoring 2. Bruins extend lead 8-1.
Bottom 5, Tanner O'Tremba in for relief of starting pitcher Blake Goldsberry. Ryan Faircloth gets the Eagles going with a single to CF. Bailey Collins advances Faircloth with a line drive single to deep CF. A pass ball advances both runner to 2B and 3B, but the runners are stranded again on an inning ending pop out.
Top 6, the Bruins fail to deliver a hit for the first time in the game
Bottom 6, after a single to LF by Grimes, Bruin freshman OTremba shuts down Dakota Ridge
Top 7, Gutierrez in for relief of Lightley. Sweeney reaches 1B safely on a error by the third baseman. Benedetti (3 for 5) singles to LF. Goldsberry hits a RBI double to CF. Bruins lead 9-1
The Cherry Creek Bruins would add another 3 runs to end the game.
Final score 12-1, Cherry Creek over Dakota Ridge
