Top Performances

+ Bryant Shellenbarger, OF, Mt. Vernon HS, 2016 
6-foot, 190-pound prospect. Physically strong, athletic player with solid raw skills. Ran 7.06 60 yard dash with 84 mph arm strength. Throws from outfield will enhance further with proper throwing base (crow-hop and over the top hand release). Shows quick hand speed into hitting zone (86 mph bat exit velo) with level bat path plane. Needs improvement on clearing front side hip in swing with enhanced lower body torque.

+ Mark Meyer, RHP, Tuslaw HS, 2016 
Tall, lanky projectable body at 6-foot-6, 165-pounds. Directional front side path towards plate with moderate upper 3/4 arm speed slot. Uses slide step from stretch. Inward turn with front side kick. Would like to see enhancement of lower body torque in delivery. Tendency to swing front leg instead of attacking along with backside hip pop. Fastball registered 82-84 mph with some run action; shows feel for curve (65-66 mph spins) and arm action change (72-74 mph). Expecting good things the next two seasons from him.

+ Mason Groves, 2B/RHP, Olentangy Liberty HS, 2016
Left definite impression that he is a solid two-way potential guy for the next level. Has athleticism in his projectable 5-foot-10, 148-pound body. Ran a 7.2 second 60 yard dash and showed a solid arm strength. The righty hitter has quick hands into hitting zone with some power potential. Gets lower body torque and good hand finish; hitting grades will enhance with consistent backside load. On the bump, he has directional path towards the plate with moderate 3/4 level arm slot. Has stiffness in front leg but fastball registered 82-83 mph. Good downhill action. Showed a 69-70 mph breaking with 12/6 action and good depth. Also, showed a developing a 77 mph changeup that he located down in the zone.

+ Nathan Moore, OF/IF/RHP, Bishop Hartley HS, 2016 

Good athletic body at 6-foot, 175-pound who ran a solid 7.12 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter has a level bat path plane into zone with quick hands. Would like to see enhanced top hand in trigger to promote power increase. Gets good lower half torque with two hand power swing finish. Has solid plus arm strength with 90 mph arm strength form the outfield. Definite right fielder and left side infield type. Good hands and body balance. On the mound, he sat 80-83 mph with late cut. Has a quick arm. Will benefit with additional hip load. Uses a hard 11/5 breaking with late action down in the zone at 74 mph. Changeup still needs development at 77-78 mph.

Alex Shelton, IF, Colerain HS, 2016

5-foot-6, 145-pound prospect. Has good infield actions with soft hands and body balance. Needs to improve arm strength (70 mph). Ran a 7.55 60 yard dash. Has low hand trigger set and uphill bat plane path (64 mph exit velo). Needs more top hand in trigger to enhance bat speed.

Bobby Hughes, C, Centerville HS, 2016

5-foot-11, 200-pound receiver who receives and frames ball well. Needs improved footwork and long toss program to increase arm strength (66 mph). Pop times ranged from 2.27-2.39. Ran 7.54 60 yard dash. Upper body type hitter with bat exit velocity of 71 mph. Has good swing finish.

Brennan Hatten, OF/LHP, HS, 2016

5-foot-7, 145-pound prospect with small, athletic frame. From the outfield, he uses long arm action through a 3/4 arm slot. reached a top velocity of 76 mph. Average hands and feet at this stage. Showed balance in his actions. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Hands begin high in his load. Slight uphill path to the ball with line drive production in his swing. Will be aided by additional strength and maturity.

Brian Schutter, RHP/IF, Centerville HS, 2016

5-foot-11, 150-pound prospect. Medium body shows good raw baseball skills. Ran 7.22 60 yard dash with 82 mph arm strength. Overall defense will improve with enhanced body balance and footwork. Bat speed (75 mph exit velo) will improve with compact trigger. Shows uphill bat path plane and good bat finish. Gets moderate lower half torque. Has directional delivery on the mound with moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 slot. Fastball ranges 74-75 mph. Has slurvey type breaking ball (65-66 mph). Change shows some sink action (69-70 mph).

Colton May, C, Springboro HS, 2016

5-foot-7, 123-pound prospect. Undersized receiver with solid 7.38 second 60 yard dash. Needs to improve footwork and glove to hand exchange to increase pop times (2.6-2.62) Long toss program should also enhance arm strength (61 mph). Upper body type hitter with uphill plane bath path (68 mph exit velo). 

Harrison Gilmore, RHP, Lancaster HS, 2016

6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect with tall, athletic frame. Throws through high ¾ arm slot with long arm action. Some wrapping action on the back side. Sat 75-77 and touched up to 79 mph. Control and velocity will improve as lower half directional issues are corrected. Breaking ball sat at 63 mph with 11/5 action. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed at 69 mph.

Jack Griffith, IF, R-R, Bloom-Carroll HS, 2016

5-foot-9, 174-pound prospect. Good athlete that shows quick actions as an infielder. Ran 7.11 60 yard dash. Has 71 mph arm strength from all angles which should improve with physical maturity and long toss program. Has level bat plane path with some hand quickness (77 mph exit velo). Has good hand swing finish with some lower body torque. Needs more consistent hitting base and keeping weight back.

Jonathon Popham, RHP/1B, Olentangy Liberty HS, 2016

6-foot-5, 135-pound prospect with tall, lanky body and physical projection. Showed good fielding actions around the bag. Good body balance and hands. Ran 8.1 60 yard dash. Upper body type hitter with level bat path plane (exit velo 65 mph). Velo will increase with good top hand in trigger. On the hill, he has moderate arm speed through 3/4 slot.  Directional delivery. Fastball ranges 67-69 mph. Loose curve (60-61 mph) & changeup (62-63 mph).

Jordan Peck, RHP, Troy HS, 2016

6-foot-3, 155-pound prospect with thin, lanky frame. Throws with average arm speed through high ¾ slot. Tends to land closed. Fastball sat at 70-73 mph with occasional run. Breakingball showed gradual depth at 55-58 mph while his changeup was straight at 63 mph.

Jordan Wharton, IF, Copley HS, 2016

6-foot, 155-pound prospect. Sound athletic player who ran solid 7.27 60 yard dash with 75 mph am strength from the infield. Has quick feet and body balance defensively. Needs to improve softening his hands. Upper body type hitter with level bat plane path into zone, Needs to enhance more lower body torque in swing with good two hand swing finish. Has some hand speed (79 mph exit velo).

Kevin Browne, OF/IF, LaSalle HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 169-pound prospect with projectable body that shows some good baseball skills. Ran good 7.07 60 yard dash. Has quick hitting hands (exit velo 86 mph). Has good two hand swing finish. Needs to enhance lower body swing torque to increase power. Needs to increase arm strength (65 mph) by long toss.

Mark Nadeau, RHP/1B, Springboro HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect with strong body and two-way potential. Ran 7.4 60 yard dash. Showed good actions defensively around the bag with 76 mph arm strength. Has uphill swing bat path plane with some hand quickness (80 mph exit velo).. Increase of power should come with enhanced lower body torque and two hand power swing finish. On the mound, the righty throws through a high ¾ arm slot. Uses short arm action. Stabbing action on the backside. Fastball sat 75-77 mph with some sink to it. Breaking ball showed spin at 65-67 mph. Needs to improve command. Also threw a 66-67 mph changeup with similar movement as his fastball.

Mason Sherrill, OF/LHP, Bellbrook HS, 2016

5-foot-8, 130-pound prospect. Small bodied player with good baseball actions. Ran 7.5 second 60 yard dash. Has good body balance in the outfield. Throws show some carry (75 mph). Hits from closed stance. Needs to improve clearing front side hip. Has level bat plane path into zone with 69 mph bat exit velo. The southpaw sat 70-72 mph. Throws with regular effort through high ¾ slot. Will improve with better lower half direction. Fastball sat 70-72 mph. Breaking ball shows 1/7 action at 64-66 mph while his changeup was thrown near fastball arm speed at 67-68 mph. Showed some sink to it.

Nate Monastra, C/IF, Olentangy HS, 2016

6-foot, 170-pound prospect. Has catching skills. Receives and frames pitches well. Pop times (2.07-2.38) will improve with improved footwork and glove to hand exchange. Ran 7.52 60 yard dash. Upper body type hitter who will benefit with more lower half power torque and two-hand power swing finish. Has hand quickness into zone (81 mph exit velo).

Ryan Lane, RHP/IF, New London HS, 2017

6-foot-1, 158-pound prospect. Young player who offers possible two-way options. Raw skills could improve with increase og physical strength. Ran 7.97 60 yard dash. Shows good body balance defensively with arm strength (73 mph) from all angles. Needs to improve overall footwork. Has level bat path plane into hitting zone. Shows some hand quickness (78 mph exit velocity). Power should increase with more lower half torque in swing and 2 hand bat swing finish. On the mound, the righty shows some quickness in his arm through a high ¾ arm slot. Regular effort to his delivery. Good hip load and quick lower half. Fastball sat 77-78 mph with good late run. His breaking ball sat at 68-69 mph. Mostly stayed on one plane , but had occasional depth. Also threw a 70-72 mph changeup.

Sam Stewart, RHP/IF, Granville HS, 2016

6-foot, 170-pound prospect. Medium sized athletic player who ran a 7.23 second 60 yard dash. Good corner infield actions with soft hands and 78 mph arm strength from all angles. Will quick when transfer when he stops patting glove before throws. With the bat he has a level bat plane path with good 2 hand swing finish. Should enhance bat speed (74 mph exit velo) with more top hand in trigger. On the mound, the righty throws with short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball sat 76-78 mph with some arm side run. Threw a 64-65 mph breaking ball with two-plane, 11/5 action. Also showed a 71-74 mph changeup thrown near fastball arm speed.

Shane Herbert, IF, Sidney HS, 2016

5-foot-9, 140-pound middle infielde. Ran 7.3 second 60 yard dash. Accepts ball well defensively with hands but needs to improve footwork and arm strength (70 mph). Should improve with long toss program. Has level bat path plane with moderate hand quickness (71 mph exit velo). Has good swing finish but must enhance lower body swing torque.

Terence Doak, OF/RHP, St. Johns HS, 2016

6-foot, 165-pound medium sized player that projects best as position player. Ran 7.44 60 yard dash. Arm strength (71 mph) will improve with enhanced lower 1/2 base (proper crow hop). Has level bat path plane with 70 mph bat exit velo. On the mound, the righty sat 70-71 mph through a high ¾ arm slot. Big leg kick with short arm action. Delivery requires regular effort. Breaking ball showed gradual depth with 12/6 action at 61-63 mph. Changeup was a bit erratic at 63-64 mph.

Zach Brown, RHP/IF, Oregon Clay HS, 2016

5-foot-11, 160-pound two-way player who projects best as an infielder. Ran 7.46 60 yard dash with 72 mph arm strength. hands play well but needs improvment in lower half body balance and consistent over the top throwing release. Has level bay plane path into zone with 80 mph bat exit velo. On the mound, he threw with average arm action through high ¾ slot. Fastball was straight at 76-77 mph. Also used a 59-62 mph breaking ball and a 63 mph changeup.

Zane Harris, 1B, Madison HS, 2016

6-foot-5, 230-pound prospect. Big, strong bodied corner guy. Lefty bat has moderate bat speed (79 mph exit velo). Has uphill bat plane path. Power will enhance with enhanced lower half body torque and good power two hand swing finish (current one hand). Ran 7.85 60 yard dash. Moves around bag defensively. Needs to continue improving quickness in his feet.
