Freshman Alex Chini threw a complete game shutout, only allowing two hits, on the way to a 4-0 Colonials victory.

The scoring got started in the bottom of the first as Colonial Heights senior Kyle Chernault singled to left scoring fellow senior Haden Crowder. In the top of the second Hopewell would get a leadoff single through the left side from catcher Sam Sylvester, but he would be erased on a fielder's choice and Chini would get the next two swinging strikeouts to end the inning.

There would not be any more scoring until the bottom of the third when Logan Kidd would hit a double into left center scoring Grayson Andrews, who also had a double two batters earlier. This would make the score 2-0 Colonial Heights. After a leadoff single in the top of the 4th Chini would use a 4-6-3 double play started by sophomore Trevor Hebner and a strikeout to get out of the fourth facing the minimum. In the bottom half the Colonials would get a triple from Tanner Gates, who would later score on a single from Crowder making it 3-0 Colonials.

Chini would continue to cruise for Colonial Heights as he would face only eleven batters in the next three innings, allowing just two walks to Hopewell hitters.

Colonial Heights would tack on one more in the 5th to make this one finish by the score of 4-0.

Chini threw all seven innings, allowed two groundball singles, and struck out seven. Grayson Andrews would go 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored. Logan Kidd was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

Brendan McComber got the start for Hopewell and went four innings, gave up five hits, and three earned runs. Sylvester was 1-for-2 on the night and was solid behind the plate for the Blue Devils.
