Jupiter: Rode's Day 4 Notebook

Once again, my day started with an arm challenging hitters as the sun was still coming over the horizon. RHP Bo Weiss (Regis Jesuit HS, CO) toed the rubber for the Mountain West Slammers against the San Diego Padres Scout Team. Weiss has wide shoulders and a projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. He pitched three innings, allowing an unearned run on a hit and struck out five while walking none. The North Carolina recruit sat 88-91 mph with his fastball, touching 92. It featured arm-side life at times. His curveball was mostly soft, sitting in the low 70s, but it flashed sharpness and good 11/5 shape at 73. Weiss’ best secondary pitch on the day was his changeup, which he showed good feel for. It featured arm-side run and looked like a fastball out of his hand, sitting at 80-81. He threw 45 pitches, 32 for strikes.

Fall Diamond Classic: August 15th, 2016

Bo Weiss, RHP, Regis Jesuit/Slammers Baseball, 2016

Currently ranked No. 4 in the 2016 class (No. 87 overall). Weiss was very impressive in 4 innings of work against UA Prime. The hitters didn't seem to have a chance. In his first 3 innings Weiss struck out 6 batters. In the 4th inning the first batter Weiss faced he blew up his wood bat on an inside fastball and sawed it in half. In the game Weiss and Paul Tillotson combined for a no-hitter. Weiss was consistently 89 to 90 mph touching 91 a couple of times. Arms works well with body from a high arm slot. Mixed in an impressive 80 mph change for strikes. Weiss has really cleaned up a lot on the mound and is consistently throwing strikes now with all three pitches. Weiss is primed to have a huge spring season for Regis. You can see video of Weiss pitching here on Vine

Junior Sunbelt Classic Team Colorado: 6-11-15

Currently ranked No. 4 in the 2016 class and committed to North Carolina. 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. Weiss started against Oklahmoa Gold on Saturday of the tournament and was consistently 87-89 mph. Weiss went 4 innings giving up 2 runs striking out 7. Weiss has great projectablility and a loose arm, reasons why people are very excited about him. In relief against Mississippi Weiss came in and was still 89 mph. Curveball
