Ayden Wood OF / LHP / Courtice, ON / 2020

College: Southeastern CC

Report: Ayden Wood is headed to Southeastern CC, where the Ontario Yankees two-way player will have a good opportunity to contribute on both sides. On the mound, it’s a clean, compact delivery in which he effectively utilizes his body. He was 85-87 mph on the bump, mixing in a downer curveball with correct spin and depth in the winter. On the positional side, he was up to 89 mph from the outfield, and at the plate, it’s a left-handed swing with barrel feel and some sneaky pop. Wood is a guy who first really caught our attention at last year’s PBR Spring Training, and has continued to improve as a player since.

Duncan McLaughlin RHP / OF / King's-Edgehill School, NS / 2020

College: Southeastern CC

Report: Nova Scotia’s Duncan McLaughlin is also headed to Southeastern CC. The right-hander was a member of the gold medal winning Nova Scotia team in the Canada Cup, throwing a gem in the final. In February, he was a definite standout at the CDN Showcase, maxing out at 86, showing feel for secondary offerings, and displaying control of his pitches. He’s a strike-throwing righty, with feel to pitch, to go along with a solid repertoire. McLaughlin is a good get for Southeastern CC.

Josh Matteson RHP / OF / Aldershot, ON / 2020

College: Cuyahoga CC

Report: A standout on the mound at the New Year Open, Matteson, a right-hander out of Burlington recently committed to Cuyahoga CC. Matteson has jumped 6-8 mph over the year with his fastball which was 86-88 mph in the winter, while the slider showed some tilt and he mixed in a splitter as well. There is some effort, but it’s good effort and only upside with Matteson moving forward.

Noah Murciano C / 2B / Bill Crothers, ON / 2020

College: Sussex County CC

Report: Murciano, a catcher for the Ontario Astros, who also impressed at the New Year Open, is now headed to Sussex County CC. Behind the plate, he was up to 1.95 during catcher pops, while getting throws off up to 72 mph. The bat has continued to progress; he was up to 86 mph off the tee, he displayed some bat speed and looseness. There is plenty of room to continue to put on weight and fill out. Plenty of development left, and it’s easy to envision Murciano continuing to take strides over the next couple of years in New Jersey.

Stef Turino OF / OF / Birchmount, ON / 2020

College: Three River College

Report: Joining Matt and Luke, Stef, the youngest of a trio of brothers, is headed to the states, as he commits to Three River College. It's a line-drive oriented right-handed swing with some whip and looseness in the box. He's a 7.01 runner and moves well in the outfield with intent. It's an athletic frame, there's mobility and strength, and room to continue to physically mature. Nice get for Three River College, and he'll be an interesting follow.

Kaden Gray C / NA, ON / 2021

College: Cowley CC

Report: Gray is coming off of a strong summer, which concluded with a good showing at Tournament 12. Now, our top-ranked catcher in the ‘21 class is going to Cowley CC. It’s a physical, 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame, with a strong foundation, that profiles well behind the plate. He has shown well defensively, he’s a sound receiver with quiet hands, and possesses a strong throwing arm. At the plate, it’s a line-drive swing with loud sweet spot contact. He’ll have the chance to develop some in-game power due to his current strength.

Lukas Touma RHP / 1B / William Lyon Mackenzie CI, ON / 2020

College: USC Upstate

Report: Touma, a pitcher for the Ontario Blue Jays, is going to USC Upstate. He’s a right-hander who will throw strikes, mix in his off-speed and pitch to both sides. The delivery is clean, arm works from a ¾ slot with run on his FB that we’ve seen up in the mid-high 80’s. The curveball has proper rotation, and Touma is a 2020 that will continue to polish his stuff.

Tanner Almond OF / Georgian Bay Community, ON / 2021

College: Connors State

Report: Almond, a left-on-left outfielder has committed to Connors State. He has really come into his own over the last year, profiling as a hit first outfielder with great reads defensively. The in-game performance has been fantastic, and the offensive upside is there for Almond as the swing plays with some natural lift and the ability to hit the ball out the yard. Almond has a chance to be an impact player at Connors State.

Griffin Almond RHP / Georgian Bay Community, ON / 2021

College: Connors State

Report: Griffin, like Tanner, is headed to Connors State. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound right-hander, is an imposing arm. He creates leverage as he throws from a downhill angle, releases from a high ¾ arm slot with good extension out front, allowing for his 85-88 mph to play up. He’ll mix in a changeup and curveball that both show signs of being useful offerings. The brother combination will leave their stamp in Oklahoma.

Alex Kok 1B / 3B / Dr. John M Denison Secondary, ON / 2020

College: Rockingham CC

Report: A 6-foot-1, 200-pound first-baseman in the 2020 class, Kok is headed to Rockingham CC. Kok impressed in the fall at Titans Scout Day. He was up to 89 mph during exit velo’s, showing off some strength from the right-side. It’s a compact swing with a short load and bat speed through the zone. The bat is the biggest tool, and there’s some upside.

Elijha Hammill SS / 2B / Holy Trinity, ON / 2021

College: Utah

Report: Hammil, one of the top 2021 in the country and two-time member of our Future Games team was a hot commodity who finally has made a decision with his recent announcement on going to the University of Utah. The switch-hitting second baseman has always performed on the field and was the youngest position player on the Canadian roster last year at the World Championships in South Korea. There are questions if he sticks on the dirt but with his 6.60 speed and athleticism, we can see him make any easy transition to the outfield if that becomes necessary. The offensive tools play now and Hammill is going to be someone who can make an impact early in his collegiate career.

Maddux Mateychuk RHP / Vauxhall Academy of Baseball, AB / 2020

College: Mineral Area

Report: The strong and husky right-hander had a plethora of options to choose from on the junior college side and the Vauxhall member should fit right in with the amount of Canadians on Mineral’s roster. The right-hander has shown velo as it's been up to 93 mph and works from a ¾ slot. There is work and improvement to be done on the secondary but Mateychuk for the most part just needs innings and experience to take the next step in his development.

Nathaniel Ochoa SS / OF / Notre Dame Catholic, ON / 2022

College: Purdue

Report: The top ranked 2022 in Ontario found his home recently as a Boilermaker as Ochoa can carry the Canadaian torch once he gets on campus. The long and lanky 6-foot-4 infielder has lots of upside and potential. The glove and arm are both present tools right now as its left-side of the infield while the bat has made strides since the summer last year. A big part with Ochoa is the strength gains as he still has tons of room to add size and strength and it will be very interesting to see how he progresses over the next two years.

Core Jackson SS / Lambton Central, ON / 2021

College: Nebraska

Report: Jackson, a left-handed hitting middle infielder with quick twitch and moxy to his game recently just followed in the steps of his current coach and committed to Nebraska. Jackson was supposed to be with the National Team this past March but an injury prevented him from doing so. We’ve got to see Jackson for multiple looks and you like the swing, there is strength to come and the actions really play in the infield. He has grit and toughness to his game and we like what he brings to the table. Currently is the number three ranked player in our 2021 class.

Nick Gravel 2B / SS / Vauxhall Academy of Baseball, AB / 2020

College: Hill College

Report: A left-handed hitting infielder from Nova Scotia who trains and plays out west in Alberta for Vauxhall, Gravel has always been a favourite of the PBR staff. The glove has always been a strong part of the game as Gravel can pick it as we’ve mostly seen him at second base but there is actions and footwork that suggest he can play the left side as well. At the plate it’s a contact oriented approach, there is some looseness in the hands and Gravel has upside as there is room for him to add size and strength. Plays with a pulse and that hard nosed, dirt bag mentality, Gravel should be a welcome addition to any program.

Jason Zhang RHP / SS / Longfields-Davidson Heights, ON / 2020

College: New York University

Report: Zhang is a right-hander who we’ve seen glimpses of over the past couple years. There has always been athleticism and arm strength to his game and he really has taken steps forward on the mound.

Vic Domingo RHP / 3B / Saint Thomas More Collegiate, BC / 2020

College: Connors State

Report: Domingo is a lively right-hander who pitches with energy and competitiveness, attacking hitters with a three-pitch mix and fastball that we’ve seen in the upper 80’s and will flirt with 90 mph. The arm is quick, there is deceptiveness to the delivery and his ability to throw his off-speed for strikes is a big separator for him. He was good for Team BC at the Canada Cup and really took his game to the next level at T12 where he was really impressive. Expect for Domingo to keep the trend moving up as he was added to the Canadian Junior National Team for their upcoming trip in March and will be one of the top senior arms in league play out on the west coast.

Patrick Mulligan SS / OF / Gloucester, ON / 2020

College: Cloud County CC

Report: A versatile player with tools that can play on both sides of the ball, Mulligan has continued to get better every year and its evident he puts the work in off the field. The right-handed hitter has a short, compact swing that is line drive oriented and can spray the ball and do the little things to help wn games. His speed plays in game while defensively he can give you looks up the middle in the infield while he’s athletic enough to play some centre-field if need be.

Anthony Silvera Jr 1B / 3B / Chaminade, ON / 2020

College: Northeast CC

Report: Silvera is a bat first corner infielder who projects to have some power as he polishes his approach and really generates bat speed through the zone. He moves well in his 6-foot, 195-pound frame and can be an adequate defender at first. It is an aggressive approach at the plate as he looks to get fastballs and jump them early, with more focus and juice to his pull-side.

Ben Sitarenios OF / RHP / Bill Crothers Secondary School, ON / 2020

College: Salem International

Report: An interesting prospect who will see time in centre-field as well off the mound this season, Sitarenios has really made adjustments to his offensive game and results started to show in the fall of 2019. The bat is still raw and he can get off-balance at times, the athleticism he portrays outweighs some of the fundamentals and allows him to be successful and contribute offensively. A solid defender who runs well, the ceiling is high for Sitarenios and look for him to take another step in 2020.
