PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

Busse: I chose Upper Iowa for a few reasons. I really like Coach Ische and the rest of the coaching staff. I liked the overall feel of the program and all of the new facilities. I was also intrigued by the class sizes and how the class schedule works.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Busse: I was considering Concordia St. Paul, Minnesota State Mankato, St John’s, UW-La Crosse, and Gustavus.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Busse: Coach Ische first saw me at the PBR Showcase at Northwestern St Paul.  We started communicating and he invited me down for a visit shortly after.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Busse: Yes, I do feel relieved knowing that it is over and can now I can focus on just baseball.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Busse: Honestly the one factor that was crucial was the coaching staff.  I really like Coach Ische and the rest of the staff at Upper Iowa.  Coach Ische was very honest with me and his enthusiasm and excitement for the program was contagious.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

Busse: My father, he always has made the time to help me whether it be playing catch or hitting in the cages.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Busse: I really didn’t think it would be this in depth. I didn’t know about PBR until this summer. I went to one of PBR’s Showcases and got immediate interest. In hindsight I wish I would have done a PBR Showcase earlier.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Busse: Coach Ische explained that anything is possible and I was happy with his plans for my freshman year.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Busse: Winning the Scout Stop tournament at Siebert field on a walk-off.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

Busse: Will Frisch, I’ve only played against him once but he is obviously a great player.
