PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
Volkers: I choose the North Iowa Area Community College because I felt like they have the resources and coaching to take me to the next level in academics and in baseball.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Volkers: Other schools that I was considering include Iowa Central, Valparaiso University, Southeast Community College, St. Thomas, and I had planned on visiting other D1, D2, and D3 universities, but NIACC seemed to be a perfect fit for me, so I just went for it.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you?  How did your relationship develop with him?
Volkers: The first place that the coaching staff saw me and started to contact me, was after the PBR showcase games at Minnetonka in the spring.
PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
Volkers: I am relieved that the process is over, and now I can just focus on baseball and school.
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
Volkers: The coaching staff and the technological tools that they have at their disposal really put me over the top and all of their facilities were super impressive.  I also liked how they had a different program for each player, tailoring to their specific developmental needs.
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Volkers: There have been a lot of people that have helped me throughout my career, but the biggest influences would have to be all of the coaches at Starter Sports Training and Great lakes Baseball Academy.  They both have helped me advance as a ballplayer mentally and physically.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
Volkers: I was lucky to have the guidance of elite sports advising, they helped me with all of the questions I had about the recruiting process, while also getting me exposure.  With their help, it made the recruiting process a breeze.
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have for you in your freshman season?
Volkers: The coaching staff has told me that they feel as though I could make an immediate impact on their team and roster.  I know that I need to work really hard to earn a weekend spot and look forward to gaining more exposure for the next step.
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Volkers: My most memorable baseball moment was pitching 8 2/3 shutout innings against Monticello in sub-state.
PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
Volkers: I am not sure who the best player I have competed against is, but going around the country the past two summers has allowed me to face really great national competition in tournaments.
