PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

Rassat: The reason why I chose university of Sioux Falls is because to me it clicked with me, on my first visit it was very welcoming.  The coaching staff were very pleasing and were very welcoming to me.  I felt like it was just the right choice for baseball, and academics.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Rassat: There were a few other schools I was interested in; my second choice was to go to the university of northwestern in St. Paul.  I really connected with their coach and he showed a lot of effort to get me to that program.  My third choice would’ve been Northern state.  I was supposed to go on a visit there, but I eventually signed with USF.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Rassat: The USF coaching staff first saw me in my hometown at a small prospect camp.  I didn’t really talk with Coach Pruitt but he noticed me and sent me a few emails.  After getting to talking with him and figuring out some stuff our relationship moved on well.  He’s helped me with everything for college so far and has helped me with workout routines and other physical exercises.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Rassat: Overall, I do feel relieved.  It’s a dream come true to be playing college baseball.  The hard work never stops, and the off-season is right now.  So now I’m able to focus on getting better for my senior year instead of having to worry about what college to pick.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Rassat: There was a few factors that helped me pick USF.  There is a lot of benefits of their school and overall made me chose them.  As a school and their baseball team they left a very good impression and led me to choose them

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

Rassat: Mainly my dad and all my coaches, my dad was a coach of mine when I was younger and pushed me harder than he pushed others.  He wanted me to work the hardest always.  It’s something that has been embedded in me.  A big thanks to him and all my coaches I wouldn’t be here without any of them.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Rassat: My expectations of the recruiting process were a little different than it was. I thought it would be a little easier, but I figured that out.  You really got to have your stuff ready to send out to any coach.  The whole Process is a good experience though.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Rassat: I hope my freshmen year I’m able to play.  I’m not sure what we have in store this year other than a lot of wins. I’m just going to show up and work my hardest and if that gets me playing time then I’m going to be happy with it.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Rassat: My most memorable baseball moment to this date was either throwing 4 complete game shutouts in a row with 2 no hitters, or when I hit a walk-off 3 run homer in to win a championship game when I was 12.  Both were things I will remember for my whole life but those stick out the most to me.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

Rassat: The best baseball player I’ve played against to this day is still Max Carlson.  That dude is a freak of nature.  We played when we were 11-12 in the state tournaments and that kid has a cannon. Probably the all-around best player I’ve played against so far
