Evan Appelwick - Indiana

PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

Appelwick: I mainly chose Indiana because of the coaching staff. To go along with them I loved the facilities and the business program.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Appelwick: I also visited Northwestern and Stetson.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Appelwick: The coaching staff first saw me at the PBR Future Games. Following that event, I got a call from Coach Held and was invited to a camp. I did well at the camp and then planned a visit.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Appelwick: It is definitely nice to not have to worry about deciding on a college especially with all of the rules that are going on now.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Appelwick: The biggest factor was the coaching staff and how into developing players they are.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

Appelwick: I think my dad has helped me the most on getting to where I am today. He was always willing to give up his time to try and put me in the best position to be successful.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Appelwick: Going into my freshman year, I was pretty nervous about the recruiting process. After I started talking to a couple colleges and working with Elite Sports Advising I was able to relax a lot more. Once Indiana started talking to me, I realized they were definitely the right choice for me. Overall, I didn’t think the process was too difficult.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Appelwick: The coaching staff is planning on keeping me in the infield. I am excited to start working with them and develop my skills.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Appelwick: The BCS tournament 2 summers ago with Team Elite. We played 10 games and made it to the championship before ending up 2nd. I also made the all-tournament team for hitting.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

Appelwick: I think the best player I have faced is Phillip Abner.
