PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

Perala: I chose St. Scholastica because of the evident ability of the coaching staff to develop players to their highest potential, the connection they have to various baseball resources, and the great biochemistry program that the school has.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Perala: I was considering University of Minnesota - Duluth, Augustana, and Luther College

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Perala: The coaching staff at St. Scholastica first saw me at Thanksgiving Camps that I went to when I was in seventh and eighth grade. Once I was a varsity player coach Kemp actively scouted me and showed lots of interest.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Perala: Yes, now I can focus on preparing for my senior season and developing myself further to be ready next fall.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Perala: The most appealing thing about St. Scholastica is the prestigious academic programs they have and the opportunities to do research and connect with surrounding facilities.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

Perala: My entire family has been very influential on my work ethic and how I have prioritized different needs throughout high school.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Perala: I expected that there would be a lot of communication involved in the recruiting process. There are a lot of text messages and calls involved throughout the process. At times the recruiting process was difficult, but the support group I had really helped me through it.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Perala: Coach Kemp and the rest of the coaching staff at St. Scholastica plan to get me right on the mound at the beginning of my freshman season. They think that we shouldn’t waste any time and that I will be ready to compete immediately.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Perala: During my sophomore year I remember beating the #2 seed in the first round of section playoffs. I pitched 6 innings, gave up two runs, and hit an opposite-field homerun. We won 6-2.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

Perala: The best player I have played against was Nick Emmanuel from Esko.
