Prep Baseball Report

Committed: Hiatt and Tissue

By: Zac Bottoms

It’s been a busy week for Catholic High School prospects with two underclassmen, making their college commitments. 2018 LHP Evan Hiatt is off to another great season as key piece in the Rockets pitching rotation. He was rewarded with an offer and a commitment to the Arkansas Razorbacks. 2017 SS Cameron Tissue has been the catalyst for their offense hitting in the leadoff spot. He committed to University of Central Arkansas.

Below is our scouting report on both players, as Hiatt attended our Elite Underclass Showcase and January and Tissue has attended our Top Prospects Games and our All-State Games.

2018 LHP Evan Hiatt, Catholic HS
Hiatt is a 6-foot-1 180-pound left-hander with a large frame and an average build. He works from an H ¾ arm slot with a loose quick arm action. His mechanics are repeated consistently with little effort. He command his fastball at 84-85 mph with late sink. He threw a power curveball with fastball arm speed at 73-77 mph with 1/7 shape. He did not throw his changeup in game, but did not need to due to the effectiveness of his fastball curveball combo Overall Hiatt is an advanced left-hander with tremendous upside, as he shows the arm speed to throw a power breaking ball with a clean arm action.

2017 Cameron Tissue, MIF, Catholic HS
Tissue is a 6-foot 165-pound middle infielder with an athletic frame and build. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork, soft hands and a smooth exchange.  He throws the ball 78 mph across the infield with accuracy. He throws with a short quick arm. Offensively is where Tissue separates himself, He attacks the baseball with fast bat speed with a line drive swing. He starts from an athletic stance, he has a smooth load and a short stride, and he has shown an advanced feel for the barrel with his line drive swing. Overall Tissue is a well-rounded player with and advanced offensive player, I think he will transition to third or second at the college level but he has the hands to compete at short stop.
