Daily Game Round Up-April 2



In the feature game of the day, No. 11 Blue Springs South defeated No. 9 Raymore-Peculiar 3-2 in a pitchers battle between No. 2 ranked player in the Class of 2014 Storm Rynard and the No. 16 Player in the Class, RHP Reece Eddins. Eddins went five innings, scattering four hits, striking out six and allowing one earned run. Rynard went six strong allowing three hits, striking out seven and also allowing one run. 

Raymore-Peculiar got the scoring started in the bottom of the first, getting to Eddins early. Blake Skeed was hit by a pitch to open the innings and came around to scored on a single by Alex Hunt, putting Raymore-Peculiar up 1-0.

Blue Springs South tied the game in the top of the fourth, with Eddins helping himself by smashing a solo home run to centerfield. 

Raymore-Peculiar would tack on another run in the sixth. Jake Scribner led the frame off with a walk, and would be replaced by pinch runner Jeremy Habelitz. A single by Jordan Van Trump followed by a sacrifice bunt by Austin Cochran and an error allowed Habelitz to score, 2-1. 

Blue Springs South scored twice in the top of the seventh, to take the lead 3-2. Braden Younkin led off with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. A single by Taylor Sprague advanced Younkin to third and he came around to score on an error by the Raymore-Peculiar right fielder. A triple by Colton Pogue drove home Younkin, and Blue Springs South would hold Raymore-Peculiar scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win. 

A Simms got the win in relief, going two innings and allowing one hit, one run and striking out three. 

In top 25 action:
No. 1 Francis Howell 4 Ft. Zumwalt West 2
Jake Hellweg went 2-for-3 with a home run and Dylan Salsman picked up another win throwing a complete game, striking out five and scattering five hits for Francis Howell.

No. 2 CBC 3 No. 20 Vianney 8
Vianney snapped a three game losing streak, knocking off CBC 8-3. Jack Klages and Chris Cornelius each picked up two hits a piece, and Kevin Dvorak had a two double to lead Vianney. 

No. 3 Rockhurst 6 Olathe NW (KS) 1 

No. 5 Westminster 3 Principia 1
Kyle Kinner and Caleb Hicks each drove in a run to lead the Westminster offense. Davis Vanderslice picked up the win striking out eight over six and two thirds innings pitched. 

No. 6 Parkway North 6 Parkway Central 4
Joe Hope went 6 and a third innings striking out seven and allowing two earned runs to pick up the win for Parkway North. Joe Shanker, Giuseppe Accardi, and Hope each drove in a run to set the tone for the win.

No. 8 Jefferson City 5 No. 18 Pacific 3
Home runs by Brenden Ogletree in the second and Corey Beard powered Jefferson City to a 5-3 win over Pacific. Steven Coots recorded the win, allowing seven hits and two runs in five innings of work.

No. 10 Ladue 5 St. Charles West 2
Gabe Grand got the win and led the offense over St. Charles West. Grand allowed two hits in five innings of work and also had a two RBI double in a four run fifth inning.

No. 13 Santa Fe 20 Crest Ridge 6
In their second game of the season, Santa Fe exploded for 20 runs and 17 hits, with every starter except one collecting at least one hit. Keaton Graf led the offense going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Wyatt Wilkinson had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the playe, driving in three and crossing the plate four times. Christian Boehmer and Grant Boland also drove in three runs apiece. 

No. 16 Seckman Northwest 2
Mike Bibbs, Tommy Estopare, and Brady Pollite combined for six hits and four RBIs to lead the Seckman offense. Colby Holloway picked up the win allowing two runs over five and a third innings of work, striking out six. 

No. 21 Clayton 5 Kirkwood 1
John Howard shut down Kirkwood’s offense, striking out seven and scattering four hits and no earned runs 

No. 25 Poplar Bluff 3 Sikeston 2
Poplar Bluff scored two runs in the top of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie and take the victory. 

In other action around the state:
Parkview 1 Lebanon 0
Landon Ruff drove in the game’s only run, and he picked up the win in relief. Lebanon’s Brad Archer struck out eight and allowed one hit in five innings of work. 

SLUH 15 Chaminade 0
SLUH improves to 7-0 as Andrew Quinn gets the win throwing five innings of three hit ball.  JJ Guenther went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and Charlie Nestor drove in three to lead the Jr. Billiken offense. 

Hazelwood West 8 McCluer North 0
Devin Williams struck out nine and allowed two hits in five innings of work. Aaron Lohmann and Connor Mathis each went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. 

Holt 3 Ft. Zumwalt North 0
Josh Abegg struck out 11 in a complete game, allowing only two hits. Grant Starke, Wyatt Fones, and Abegg each had an RBI. 

Farmington 12 Central 4
Jordan Ankrom and Jred Dunlap each collected two hits on the afternoon, and Conner had a two RBI double in leading Farmington over Central.
