Lakeside High School 5 vs Benton High School 10
Benton High School used two big innings to be Lakeside High Score with a score of 10-5.
Lakeside jumped out to a lead scoring 3 runs in the top of the 2nd. 2016 CIF Andrew Spakes and 2016 C Erick Aguire drew walks to lead off the inning, Dylan Carpenter reached on an error that scored Spakes, Tanner Rice hit a single to left that drove in two runs.
Lakeside padded their lead with a run in the 3rd. Youngblood led off with a single, followed by a single by Hall. Youngblood later scored on a groundball to short stop by Spakes.
Benton answered in the bottom of the 3rd scoring 5 runs with 2 outs. This inning was highlighted by a single that drove in a run by 2016 OF Colten Nix and a double that drove in another run by 2016 C Brinson Williams. Williams scored the final run on a passed ball.
Lakeside tied things up in the 5th when Jon Youngblood walked to lead off the inning and later scored, when Spakes hit into a double. 2015 CIF/RHP Jared Barker relieved 2016 CIF/RHP Jack Jumper with the bases loaded and induced a groundball for a double play then recorded a strike out to limit the damage.
Benton answered in the bottom of the 5th with 5 runs. They took advantage of 4 walks and an error by Lakeside. Chase and Colten Nix both drove in a run.
