Conway 7 vs Watson Chapel 2

Conway picked up a 7-2 win over Watson Chapel in the first round of the Central Arkansas Invitational, hosted by Catholic HS.

The Wampus Cats received a great pitching performance from 2018 LHP Jordan Wicks. Wicks pitched 7 innings allowing just two hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He had a no hitter through 6.3 innings before 2016 C Blake Phillips hit a single.

Offensively Conway received multi-hit games from 2016 C Greyson Pinkett and 2016 C/OF Andrew Hhrea. The rest of the lineup had 3 hits and took advantage of 5 Watson Chapel errors to score 7 runs.

Watson Chapel received a large contribution from 2017 Aaron Frazier as he hit a 2 run home run in the 7^th, to go 1-for 3 on the day.

2018 LHP Kaleb Hill took the loss for Watson Chapel, allowing 1 earned run in 3 innings of worked, while striking out 2 and walking 6. His command was lacking at times but he flashed some advanced pitches and will be intriguing to watch as he matures.

Conway advanced to play Sylvan Hills, while Watson Chapel played Russellville in the consolation bracket.

Ozark HS 9 vs Marion HS 0

Ozark scored 7 runs in the first three innings and let 2016 LHP Jayden McClellan handle the rest.

McClellan pitched 5 innings allowing just 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking four. The game ended in a rule, 8 after 5 innings. McClellan picked up the win with his complete game shutout.

Offensively the Hillbillies were led by 2016 CIF Cole Crumpacker, he went 2 for 3 with double 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. The rest of the Ozark club had six hits and took advantage of Marion’s 4 errors and 2 walks, to score 9 runs.

Marion received a solid day from Stephenson who went 1 for 2, hitting a double and drawing a walk from the leadoff spot.

Ozark advanced to play Springdale, while Marion moved to the consolation bracket and played Catholic HS.
