Regional Tournaments began last Friday, the 4A North was only able to get 2 games in, in the first two days. Prairie Grove HS beat Clinton HS, while Pea Ridge HS beat Dover HS. Here is a look at the games that happened Monday.

Ozark High School 9 vs Gravette High School O

Ozark HS beat Gravette HS behind a solid pitching performance and a 6th inning offensive outburst. The final score was 9-0.

Coleman McClure had a good day on the mound pitching 6 innings allowing just one hit while striking out 6 to pick up the win. Cole Yell worked a quick 7th inning to finish the game out.

Offensively Ozark score one run in the bottom of the first when 2015 INF/RHP Dalton Lewis drove in OF Jayden McClellan to make the score 1-0.

The game cruised along as a pitchers dual until the 6th when Ozark took advantage of Gravette mistakes scoring 8 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks a hit by pitch and two Lion errors.

2015 RHP Kyler Bunch gave Gravette a chance pitching 5 strong innings.

2015 MIF Cole Yell had a big day offensively for Ozark going 2 for 3 with 4 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.

Shiloh Christian High School 4 vs Robinson High School 0

Shiloh Christian HS beat Robinson HS in a pitchers dual to punch their ticket to the 4A State Tournament that begins Friday in Blytheville, hosted by Gosnell HS.

2015 RHP Kord Offenbacker out dueled 2015 RHP Markus Bracey to pick up the win 4-0. Offenbacker threw 7 innings with 10 strike outs and only allowed 2 hits. Bracey threw 5 innings allowing no earned runs while striking out 7.

Shiloh scored 1 run in the 2nd on 2 Robinson errors, tacked on another run in the 4th on a Ben Olsen infield single with the bases loaded. When Bracey left in the 6th they took advantage of 2 more errors to reach the final score of 4-0.

Pea Ridge High School 3 vs Prairie Grove High School 2

Pea Ridge HS beat Prairie Grove HS in a come from behind fashion in the first North Regional semi-final game. The final score was 3-2.

Prairie Grove chose to pitch by committee due to the state tournament starting Thursday, the plan worked well with 2016 RHP Gavin Heltemes, 2017 RHP Reed Orr and 2016 RHP Sam Dodd allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 9.

Unfortunately that wasn’t enough as they were bested by 2015 RHP Tristian Trundle, Trundle pitched a complete game allowing just two hits, no earned runs and striking out 6 to pick up the win for Pea Ridge.

Prairie Grove scored 1 in the top of the 5th when 2017 OF Clay Fidler reached on an error, advanced to second as the ball went into the dugout, and later scored on a 2017 CIF Cole Speed single. The Tigers added an insurance run in the 6th Heltemes singled to lead off the inning, stole second and later scored when Orr struck out and the ball got away from the catcher.

Pea Ridge answered in the 6th taking advantage of 2 hit by pitches and a walk. Similar situation in the 7th as they scored 2 runs on 1 hit an error and two walks. 2015 Dakota Canaday had the single to tie the game up while Cotton walked to score the game winning run.

Ozark High School 2 vs Shiloh Christian High School 1

Ozark HS stayed to what has worked for them all year, winning another low scoring affair, 2-1 Monday night in the 4A North Region, semifinal game.

2015 RHP Dalton Lewis had a big game for the Hillbillies throwing 7 innings, allowing just 4 hits, while striking out 3. Lewis impressed with his composure, continue to make pitches and work out of jams, even though Ozark committed 5 errors behind him.

2016 LHP Gunnar Gilbert was equally impressive pitching 6 innings allowing just 1 earned run while striking out 5.

Ozark scored a run in the 1st and 4th and made enough plays to win. In the first they scored a run when OF Jayden McClellan lead off the inning with a triple to right field, Jaron Harris drove the run in with a groundball to short stop. In the 4th Ozark took advantage of 2 Shiloh errors to score a run, on a first and third offensive play.

Shiloh Christian scored 1 in the 7th on infield hit but stranded the tying run at second. Ozark advances to the finals today at 2:30 vs Pea Ridge and Shiloh Christian will play Prairie Grove in the consolation game at 12:00.
