On Saturday schools from the Classifications of 4A-1A competed in districts tournaments for the opportunity to advance their seasons to regionals next week. Here is a look at three of those games.

Pulaski Robinson High School 4 vs Dardanelle High School 3

Pulaski Robinson punched their ticket in the bottom of the 7th on a walk-off fielder choice, to win 4-3.

Robinson received a big day from 2015 RHP/MIF Marcus Bracey. Bracey threw a complete game giving up 2 earned runs and striking out 7 hitters. At the plate Bracy went 2-3 with 1 run scored.

Dardanelle was paced by 2018 Tate Vestal, 2-3 with a walk and a two out RBI.

Robinson advanced to play the No. 1 seed Clinton HS in the semi-finals.

Dover High School 5 vs Arkansas Baptist High School 1

Post-season play is about upsets and teams taking advantage of their opportunity to advance. Dover didn’t let this opportunity slip by as they won two elimination games in two days to advance to the next week regional.

The Pirates received a big day from two unlikely spots as 2015 MIF Dalton Van Horn hit a 3 run home run in the 3rd to put Dover up 4-1. On the mound they received a great performance by 2017 Seth Cheek. Cheek thre2 3.2 innings with 9 strike outs, with 1 hit and zero runs.

Luke Price was the catalyst for the Pirates going 3-3 with a double, a walk 2 runs scored.

Dover advanced to play No. 2 seed Ozark HS in the semi-finals.

Lonoke High School 14 vs Newport High School 4

Lonoke HS beat Central Arkansas Christian 8-7 to advance to the finals. While Newport HS beat No. 1 seed Stuggart 5-4.

The championship game was the 3rd game in two days for Newport, and after 3 innings they just ran out of gas. When that happened Lonoke seized the opportunity scoring 5 in the 4th and 6 in the 5th, to win the game 14-4 in 5 innings. The win will give the Jackrabbits the No.1 seed in the regional and they will play Trumann, next Friday at Pocahontas HS. Newport will be the No. 2 seed and will play Brookland HS.

In the finals Lonoke received great performances by two sophomores. OF/MIF Casey Martin went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. On the mound RHP Keith Lingo pitched 3 innings allowing 0 runs and 4 hits.
