Daily Roundup: April 30 Games



No. 1 Westminster 9   Priory 3
Kyle Kinner had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate with three runs driven in and two runs scored and Brett Bond also drove in three to back starting pitcher Brendan Hehner. Hehner scattered four hits over six and two thirds inning pitched to pick up the win. 

No. 2 Parkway North 16   University City 1
Connor Ladig struck out eight and allowed six hits in six innings of work.  Ben Campbell and Jon Shankner each drove home three runs, and Daniel Brodsky went 3-for-3 with four runs scored to lead the Parkway North offense 

No. 3 Francis Howell 11  Francis Howell North 5
Francis Howell won their ninth game in a row, defeating Howell North 11 to 5.  Jake Hellweg led the Howell offense going 1-for-3 with a triple and three runs driven in. Mitch Larkin and Nic Perkins each went 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Nate Green went 3-for-3 with a double and one run driven in. 

No. 4 Notre Dame 0    No. 13 Poplar Bluff 4 (SEMO Conference Tournament)
Poplar Bluff advanced to the championship game of the SEMO Conference Tournament with a convincing 4-0 win over Notre Dame. Poplar Bluff scored three runs in the top of the first on a RBI double by Jeff Rowland, an RBI ground out by Logan Faith, and an RBI single by Drew Dowd. Wesley Pyles scattered six hits in seven shutout innings to pick up the win on the mound. 

No. 5 Jefferson City 3   No. 7 Rock Bridge 8
Jansen Smith continued his torrid pace this spring, going 3-for-4 with a homerun and two RBIs. Smith now has 42 RBIs on the season, and set the single season RBI record for Rock Bridge on his homerun.  Logan Twehouse also chipped in with a three RBI double, as well as throwing five inning of two hit ball to pick up the win. 

No. 6 Carthage 1   Willard 6
Carthage loses their first game of the year at the hands of Willard. Chance Quinlin and Michael Pfeifer each homered for Willard and Justin Atchison shut down the Carthage offense.

No. 10 SLUH 0   DeSmet 2
In a pitchers duel, DeSmet’s Michael Plassmeyer got the best of SLUH’s Brian Howard. Plassmeyer allowed only three hits and shut out the SLUH offense. In the losing effort, Howard struck out 10 in seven innings, while allowing five hits and two runs. 

No. 15 Blue Springs South 7   Liberty 6
Colton Pogue went 3-for-4 with a walk off RBI double to put Blue Springs South over Liberty in a come from behind victory.  Taylor Sprague chipped in going 3-for-4 with two runs driven in and Nick Mertes went 2-for-4 with three runs driven in to lead the Jaguars. Conner Davis picked up the win in two innings of relief work. 

No. 16 Forsyth 17   Galena 0
Logan Horner silenced the Galena bats, allowing one hit on a five inning shutout.  Jay Kaufman and Alex Pate each went 3-for-4, with Pate driving in two runs. Layn Hurst and Austin Jasper each chipped in with two RBIs apiece. 

No. 12 Vianney 3   No. 17 CBC 6
Robert Plohr threw six inning of two hit ball, allowing one earned run and striking out eight.  Jake Burger and Jaelen Gilkey each had a hit and two RBIs. 

No. 18 Holt 8   Washington 2
Grant Starke and Drew Kitson each drove home two runs to lead the Holt offense. Josh Abegg struck out seven in five inning, allowing five hits and two runs. 

No. 20 Springfield Catholic 6   Ash Grove 6
Brayton Ballenger homered and Eric Smith had three hits to lead Catholic over Ash Grove. Tyler Ast picked up the win on the mound. 

No. 22 Lee’s Summit West 2   Truman 4
Truman knocked off Lee’s Summit West behind a strong outing by J.T Hayes, who struck out seven and allowed four hits.  Truman scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning on three hits, three walks, and a couple of passed balls. 

Jackson 2   Sikeston 1 (SEMO Conference Tournament)
Jackson advanced to the championship game of the SEMO Conference Tournament to face Poplar Bluff. Jackson scored two unearned runs in the second inning and held on to win the game, with the tying run on second and go ahead run on first for Sikeston in the top of the seventh inning.

Jackson defeated Poplar Bluff to take home the SEMO Conference Tournament championship, winning their third consecutive one run game of the tournament, on a eighth inning bases loaded walk off single by Cody Harris.
 

Marquette 7   Parkway South 5
With only three hits on the afternoon, Marquette scored seven runs paving the way to a 7-5 win. After scoring three runs in the first inning on no hits, and being held hitless for four inning, Chris Lenzen delivered the first hit of the game with a bases loaded double, scoring all three runs.  Matt Scheibel added a run with a solo homerun into the wind to right field. 

Clever 10   Crane 4
Clever defeated Crane 10-4 to capture their second straight SWCL conference championship.  Chance Wolfe had eight strikeouts and went 3-for-5 at the plate.  Ranger Curtis hit a two run HR, his third homerun in two days. 

Lee’s Summit North 9   Lee’s Summit 6
Rohman Viar led the North offense with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate, driving in five runs. 

Glendale 8   Lebanon 5
As he has multiple times this spring, Evan Payne led Glendale once again on the mound and at the plate. On the mound, Payne struck out seven and allowed an earned run in six innings of work as well as going 3-for-3 at the plate. Scott Harned and Jeremy Cologna each drove home two runs for Glendale. 

Blair Oaks 9   Warsaw 0
Jacob Koelling threw a complete game one hit shutout, striking out seven over Warsaw. Ryan Abbott had a multi-hit game and drove home three. 

Seneca 6   Monett 5
After five lead changes, Seneca held on for a 6-5 win. Brayden Larson led the Seneca offense, driving in two runs on a single in the sixth. 

Pattonville 12   Hazelwood Central 2
Luke Izold turned in another solid outing on the mound, striking out 13 and allowing two hits against Hazelwood Central. 

Park Hill Central 4   North County 1 (MAAA Tournament)
Drew Harlow hit a two run homerun in the fourth inning to give Central the lead, and Jake Rhodes fanned 13 batters to pick up the win on the mound. 

Potosi 6   Farmington 2 (MAAA Tournament)
Devin Hammock struck out eight and didn’t allow an extra base bit to shit down the Farmington offense. Dakota Glore went-3-for-4 with a two run homerun to power the Potosi offense.
