Daily Roundup: March 12 Games

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

Yesterday was Opening Day in Kentucky, as in the first day teams from around the state could play regular season games.  With a small number of games on the schedule, most were cancelled due to the inclement weather that invaded the state, however there were 3 games that were able to be played.

As it did last year, our Daily Roundup article will include scores and highlights from games played around the state the previous evening.  If you don't see highlights listed for your game, feel free to email the score along with top offensive and pitching performances to [email protected] by 8:00 AM to have it included in the Daily Roundup.

Here is a look at the 3 games played last evening.

Hopkinsville 12  Kenwood, TN 6
Dustin Pendleton and Keandre Ellis each collected two hits, and Keaton Scruggs picked up the win on the mound as Hopkinsville opened its season with a convincing victory.

Warren Central 13  Allen County-Scottsville 3 (6 innings)
Jacob Updegraff and Josh Floyd each collected 2 hits and drove in a run, while Noah Thornberry, Ethan Johnson, and LaDarius Mitchell each stroked a double.  Johnson and Mitchell also drove in two runs apiece in the victory.  Floyd struck out 11 in going the distance to pick up his first win of the season.
