Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from the action around the state yesterday.

 

Ravenwood 4, Rossview 3
Jack Sisk and Zach Sharber hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the 3rd inning to help Ravenwood clinch its trip to the 2016 State tournament.  Sharber and Zane Denton finished 2-3, while Hagan Severance and Alec Lubas each added a hit and a scored a run.  On the mound, Clayton Mayfield went the distance for the Raptors, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and striking out 6. 

Sevier County 10, Powell 2
Zach Linginfelter led the Smoky Bears in their Saturday victory over Powell, as he threw all 7 innings, while also going 2-3 with 2 RBI at the plate.  Linginfelter struck out 12 and allowed only 5 hits.  Devante Matthews went 2-3, delivering a home run, a double, 2 RBI, and 1 run scored, while Chris Finnigan had a 3-4 day of his own.  Cameron Payne had a hit and an RBI in the Panthers’ loss.

Siegel 2, Rhea County 1
Ryker Kristinus came up huge, hitting a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to send the Siegel Stars to State.  It was Kristinus’ only hit on the day and one of only four that Siegel could muster against Rhea County starter Braxton Diechaus.  Drew Benefield finished 2-3 and Jacob Key went 1-4.  Key also got the complete-game win for the Stars, as he tossed 8 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run (0 earned) and striking out 12.

Goodpasture Christian 3, Silverdale 0
Zachary Wallace set the tone for the entire game by dealing a complete-game shutout.  Wallace allowed only 3 hits and 3 walks in the effort and struck out 11 Silverdale hitters.  Jayme Gregory and Cole Carter each had two hits, scoring a run and driving one in, respectively.  Gage Gregory added a hit and a run, leading the Cougars to State.

Christian Brothers 11, Baylor 1
Hayden Leatherwood finished the game 2-2 with a home run, 2 RBI, and 1 run in leading Christian Brothers to another State Tournament appearance.  Landon Kelly also had 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and 2 runs, while William Locke and Cam Pleasant each threw in 2 more hits.  Michael Feather got the win for the Purple Wave, allowing only 5 hits and striking out 3 in his 6 innings of work.

Summit 10, Gallatin 0
Chris McElvain dominated the day to send the Spartans to State.  McElvain recorded the complete-game shutout on the mound, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 8, while also going 2-3 with 2 RBI at the plate.  Wil Dalton, Calean Carver-Pack, and Wade Lopiccolo each had 2 hits of their own, combining for 5 RBI and 3 runs scored.
