Daily Roundup: May 9 games

Rain forced the cancellation of some games and others were halted in progress, but there were still quite a bit of action last evening around the state.  Here is a look at scores and highlights.

#1 Tates Creek 6, Ryle 4
Matt Neal went 2-for-2 with a HR and three RBI, and Grant Deaton allowed four earned runs over 6.2 innings to pick up the win.

#1 Tates Creek 7, Bowling Green 2
Blake Rose went 3-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Matt Neal homered and drove in four runs in the win.  Winning pitcher Noah Stone allowed two hits and no runs over three innings of work.

#5 Dixie Heights 4, Lloyd 0
Nick King went 2-for-2, Collin Suttles added a double and RBI, and Nick Niehaus fired a complete game, four-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in the victory.

#6 Covington Catholic 7, Holy Cross (Covington) 3 (8 Innings)
Covington Catholic improved to 26-4 on the season.

#9 Bullitt East 6, #3 St. Xavier 3
Garret Wilson went 2-for-2 with two RBI, Brayden Blair went 2-for-4 with a RBI, and Alex Ralph drove in two runs as the Chargers jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back.  Chase Patton allowed three earned runs and struck out five in going the distance for the win.

#12 Ballard 6, #16 Paul Laurence Dunbar 3
Jay Poullard, Trevor Putzig, and Ricky West each collected two hits apiece, and Blake Frost pitched a complete game in the Ballard win.

#13 Mercer County 11, Pulaski County 1
Camden Martin went 2-for-2 with three RBI, and Johnny Stone allowed one unearned run in four innings on the mound to pick up the win for Mercer County.

#14 Bourbon County 10, Western Hills 0
Bourbon County improved to 25-3 on the season.

#18 Lafayette 9, Franklin County 5
Lafayette remained hot, winning its sixth game in a row.

#19 Male 6, #7 Lexington Catholic 2
Male improved to 18-11 on the season.

#25 North Bullitt 11, Fern Creek 1
Josh Exton went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, and six RBI, Logan Wyatt doubled and scored three runs, and Justin Stinson added a double in the North Bullitt rout.  Brandon Johnson allowed three hits and an unearned run with six strikeouts in six innings for the win.

Sikeston MO 13, #23 Graves County 9
Sikeston scored 13 runs over the final three innings to erase an 8-0 Graves County lead for the comeback win.

Greenup County 7, Columbus Watterson 4
JB Brown went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, and Gage Hughes added two hits and scored two runs.  Christian Wireman allowed two earned runs in throwing a complete game for the win.

Christian County 5, Apollo 0
Koby Silvy went 2-for-2 with a double, and Sam Blane fired a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts for the win.

LCA 3, Henry Clay 1
Cody Kalinowski allowed one earned run over five innings for the win, and Jax Blair pitched the final two innings to pick up the save.

Taylor County 7, Monroe County 6
Daniel Carney went 2-for-3 and scored three runs, and Jordan Nicholas added two RBI as Taylor County survived a late rally.  Dalton Brown picked up the win, allowing two hits and two earned runs while recording six strikeouts.

Somerset 8, North Laurel 6
Trae Harmon went 3-for-4 with a RBI, Addison Thompson went 2-for-3 with a double and scored three runs, and Jacob Pelston went 2-for-4 with a double as Somerset jumped out to an 8-0 lead and held on for the victory.  Logan Combs went the distance for Somerset to pick up the win.

Sayre 14, Paris 4
Howard Ball went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI, Aidan Elias went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Mason Stockham added two hits and drove in a run, and Christian Courtney went 2-for-4 with a triple and RBI in the Sayre victory.  Christian Moore worked three scoreless innings to earn the win.

John Hardin 8, Bullitt Central 7
Andrew Kirkland hit two home runs and knocked in four runs, and Dale Gumm went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the John Hardin offense. 

Logan County 3, Glasgow 0
Hunter Britt went 2-for-3 with a RBI, and Joe Holliday added two hits.  Matt Harper fired a complete game, one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts for the win.

Montgomery County 6, Bryan Station 1
Chaiten Tomlin doubled and drove in two runs, and Will Wise added two RBI in the Montgomery County win.  Winning pitcher Spencer Tabor pitched a complete game, scattering four hits while allowing one earned run.

Danville 2, Corbin 0
Collin Harris went 3-for-4, and Mason Stamm pitched a complete game, four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in the Danville win.

Southern 9, Moore 0
Blayne Kennon went 3-for-3 with a double and RBI, Austin Harbin added two hits and drove in a run, Jordan Graham doubled and drove in two runs, and Austin Tucker added two RBI in the Southern rout.  Jimmy Mefford fired a complete game, three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts.

Harlan County 7, Hazard 1
Sawyer Fields went 3-for-3 with a triple, Scotty Bailey went 2-for-2 with a double, RBI, and scored three runs, and Zach Doss added two hits in the Harlan County victory.  Connor Leisge scattered five hits and allowed one earned run with 13 strikeouts in the complete game effort.
