Daily Roundup: Sub-State Games

It was a night of Sub-State action around the state last night, and what a night it was. Five games went to extra innings and ended in walk-off fashion, including Soddy Daisy's win on a walk-off home run. USJ mounted a comeback for the ages in scoring 12 runs in the final two innings. That doesn't really begin to touch on all the dramatic games and finishes that took place. Here is a look at scores and highlights from all the Sub-State action.

Farragut 3, Science Hill 2 (8 Innings)
Nico Mascia went 2 for 4 with a double and a home run to lead the Admiral offense. Cole Morgan went 3 for 3 at the plate and Patrick Raby picked up the win on the mound with 13 strikeouts in a thriller in extra innings.

Sullivan South 3, CAK 2 (12 Innings)
Cooper Jackson went 2 for 5 with a home run and Trey Fields went 3 for 4 to lead the Rebels to a win over the defending state champions. Jackson picked up the win on the mound with 6 strikeouts and Try Fields came in relief with 11 strikeouts.

Ravenwood 5, Wilson Central 4 (11 Innings)
Drew Haynie went 2 for 5 and Ryan Beamish had a triple to lead the Ravenwood offense. Darrell Freeman drove in the game winner in the 11th with a walk-off single.

Hendersonville 3, Centennial 1
Grant Williams and Conner Fischer both went 1 for 3 to lead the Hendersonville offense. Williams picked up the win on the mound with 6 strikeouts.

Christian Brothers 5, Montgomery Bell 3
Walker Grisanti homered and drove in 3 runs, and Tyler Walton struck out 10 in going the distance for the win.

Cornersville 2, Forrest 1
Tate Lowry went 2 for 3 with a double and Aaron Fox went 1 for 3 to lead the Cornersville offense in a close one. David Looney picked up the win on the mound with 6 strikeouts.

Loudon 3, Chattanooga Christian 2 (9 Innings)
Austin Cullen went 2 for 3 with a home run and Jesse Smallen went 5 for 6 to lead Loudon to a win and a trip back to the state tournament. Cam Hope had 12 strikeouts on the mound and Cody Townson came in and picked up the win.

Murfreesboro Central Magnet 4, Sequoyah 0
Jordan Jackson went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead the Murfreesboro Central offense. Chris Johnson picked up the win on the mound with 4 strikeouts.

Boyd Buchanan 5, Jackson County 1
Cade Evans went 2 for 4 and Skyler Anderson had a double to lead the Boyd Buchanan offense. Josh Antwine picked up the win with 8 strikeouts.

Franklin Road Academy 7, Harding Academy 2
Willis went 3-for-3 with a double, and Cooper went 2-for-4 with a RBI to lead FRA to the game one win. Warren went the distance on the mound with 6 strikeouts.

Franklin Road Academy 9, Harding Academy 2
Tansil went 2 for 4 with a double and Queener went 1 for 3 with a home run to lead the offense. Queener also picked up the win on the mound with 9 strikeouts.

Summertown 12, Nashville Christian 3
Bryce Giles went 2 for 3 with a double and Konner Ambrose went 3 for 4 to lead the Summertown offense. Ty Riddle picked up the win on the mound with 5 strikeouts.

HVA 7, Dobyns-Bennett 2
Dylan Harris went 3 for 5 with a home run and Vinny Gambuzza went 2 for 4 to lead the Hawks to their first ever trip to the state tournament. Tennessee signee Will Neely picked up the win on the mound with 6 strikeouts.

Goodpasture Christian 10, Silverdale 1
Drew Hall had a huge night on the mound with 12 strikeouts and the win. Zachary Wallace and Matthew Burgess both went 2 for 3 with a double at the plate.

USJ 18, Davidson Academy 13
Cameron Tinker went 2 for 3 with a double and a home run, followed by Garrett Guymon’s 2 for 5 performance with a double and a home run. Tinker picked up the win on the mound in USJ’s come from behind win in the last two innings.

Franklin Road Academy 7, Harding Academy 2
Willis went 3 for 3 with a double and Cooper went 2 for 4 to lead the offense. Warren picked up the win on the mound with 6 strikeouts .

JP II 6, Baylor 1
Mason Hickman fired a complete game to lead JP II to the Game one win. The two teams square off again tonight in game two.

Soddy Daisy 3, Smyrna 2 (9 Innings)
Gavin Rogers hit a walk-off two run homer in the 9th to win it for Soddy Daisy.

Grace Christian 4, South Greene 0
Micah Wheeler doubled and drove in 2 runs, and Tanner Fee pitched a 3 hit shutout with 13 strikeouts to lead Grace to the win.
