Diamonds Notes are back for the 2023 season. Each Monday we will share some of the top statistical performances from across the state. Stats are collected from games between Monday and Sunday

4.3.23 - 4.9.23

‘24 Levi Hazes (Century) - Tossed a complete game shutout vs Newburg on Monday. Allowed just one hit and walked two while punching out 17 opposing hitters. Was consistently around the zone, landing 70% of his pitches for strikes. Also contributed with the bat this week, going 4-for-9 with a 2B.

’26 Cooper Nix (Newberg) - The freshman took the mound for just the second time in his young varsity career last week and put together an impressive performance. He hurled a complete game, allowing just one earned run and four hits while punching out eight. Final line was 7 IP, 8 Ks, 4 H, 3 BB, 1 ER.

’23 Henry Fovinci (Lincoln) - The senior put together a productive week in the batter’s box for the Cardinals. Throughout the last three games, Fovinci is battin .500 with a HR, two RBI, and eight runs scored. He has also been a menace on the basepaths, swiping five bags.

'26 Kruz Schoolcraft (Sunset) - Talented southpaw fired a no-hitter Wednesday against Mountainside. Finishing with 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K. Faced 2 batters over the minimum. During the week, also batted 2-6 with a HR, 2B, 2 R and 2 RBI. 

’25 Gabriel Coltman (Lincoln) - The sophomore has been the three-hitter thus far this season, and has consistently played the role of run producer. Nothing changed this past week, as Coltman drove in nine RBI. He went 4-for-10, with three of those hits going for extra bases. 

‘24 Garrett Schmokel (Lincoln) - The junior had the opportunity to toe the rubber this past week against McDaniel and worked five no-hit innings. He surrendered three walks while striking out seven and picking up the winning decision. 

‘24 Aidan Kelly (Sherwood) - Kelly had two performances throughout the course of this past week, the first of which coming in relief. He entered the game on Monday with a one-run lead and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th with two outs. He struck out the final batter to record the save. Fast foward to Friday, Kelly gets the start against McMinnville, going 5.2 innings and allowing just one hit while punching out eight. 

‘24 Luke Fulkerson (Tigard) - The southpaw got the start against Roosevelt this past week, allowing just one hit over seven innings of work. He found the strike zone early and often, striking out eight while allowing just two walks. His final line was 7 IP, 8 Ks, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER.

’25 Alexander Pearson (Tigard) - The left-handed hitting sophomore put together an impressive performance in a convincing victory against Centennial. He went 2-for-2, finding the barrel in both of his at-bats. He launched his first home run of the season, following that with a 2B in his second at-bat. 

‘23 Buddy Brands (Tigard) - Brands got the start against Centennial and was nothing short of fantastic. The 2021 PBR Future Games alum hurled five no-hit innings on Friday, surrendering just one walk. He punched out eight opposing hitters while facing just one more than the minimum. 

‘23 JD Cannon (Tigard) - The Mt. Hood commit came in relief on Friday against Centennial. He struck out all three batters he faced, completing the combined no-hitter for Tigard.

‘24 Dylan Ott (Hillsboro) - The junior backstop was a massive run producer this past week, drivinng in seven runs over the course of two games. His offensive prowess He finished 4-for-7 with a pair of 2Bs.

’23 Carson Waples (Silverton) - The Mt. Hood commit took the mound against Woodburn last week and put together a dominating performance. He hurled a five-inning no hitter, striking out 10 while surrendering just three walks. On top of that, he added a 2-for-3 performance at the plate. 

‘25 Cody Roletto (Ida B Wells) - The sophomore backstop put together an impressive line offensively during three games this past week. He finished 4-for-8, with three of his hits going for extra bases. He also drove in four runs. Defensively, he back-picked a runner off of second base to get his pitcher out of a jam.

‘26 Teagan Scott (South Salem) - The Oregon State commit has gotten off to a fast start during his high school career, and last week was no exception. He finished the week 6-for-9 with eight RBIs, eight runs scored, and an eye-opening 1.126 OPS.

’23 Nick Biagi (Marist Catholic) - The Linn-Benton CC commit put together quite the week at the plate, going nearly perfect in eight at-bats. He finished 7-for-8 with a pair of 2Bs, one of which was a walk-off against Cascade. He also drove in eight runs. 

‘26 Grady Saunders (Thurston) - The Oregon State commit was electric on the mound this past Saturday against Ashland. He worked into the 7th inning, allowing just one earned run and punching out 11 opposing hitters. His final line was 6.2 IP, 11 Ks, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 ER.

‘25 Colin Downs (Cleveland) - The sophomore was very productive at the plate last week, going 5-for-8 with five RBIs. Two of those hits went for extra bases. Downs played a critical role for Cleveland as they took two out of three against Franklin.

‘23 Taylor Brenneman (Sprague) - The senior put together several impressive performances this past week, going 3-for-7. He had a big game against Clackamas, going 1-for-1 with a 2-run home run and a sacrifice fly. 

‘23 Cooper Newton (Tualatin) - The senior got to toe the rubber this past week and id not disappoint, He tossed a complete game while allowing just one earned run and striking out eight. His final line was 7 IP, 8 Ks, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 ER. 

‘25 Isaac Pfeifer (Tualatin) - The Arizona State commit has been off to a hot start his sophomore year, and that continued this past week. He went nearly perfect at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a 2B, two runs scored, and an RBI.

‘23 Zach Justice (Summit) - The senior backstop had a huge day offensively on Friday against Tualatin. He powered Summit’s offense to a convincing 15-5 win, as he found the barrel multiple times. He finished the day 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and six RBI.

‘25 Noah Scharer (South Salem) - The sophomore provided an offensive spark out of the leadoff role this past week for South Salem. Scharer went 6-for-9 over the course of their three game stretch, including two 2Bs. He was also a menace on the basepaths, stealing two bases and scoring five runs. 

‘24 Ezra Vice (Westview) - The junior outfielder went 4-for-7 this week, with two of those hits going for extra bases. He also added an RBI and a run scored.

’25 Sawyer Hewett (Century) - was stellar in his performance this past week, as he worked six innings and allowed just two runs. He also reached double digit strikeouts (10).  His final line was 6 IP, 10 Ks, 3 H, 2 R. 

‘24 Henry Stoianoff (Ida B Wells) - The junior has been quite effective out of the ‘pen this year, and this past week was no exception. He struck out four and allowed just two walks over 4.2 innings of no-hit work. In his three appearances this past week, he earned one winning decision and two saves. 

‘24 Lucas Green (Cleveland) - The junior put on an impressive two-way performace this past week. He took the mound on Wednesday, working 4.2 innings an allowing just one hit while striking out 12. He was equally impressive offensively, reaching base 10 times this week. He also launched a home run and drove in five runs.

’23 Casey Allsop (Gladstone) - The senior had the chance to toe the rubber against Mazama this past week and absolutely shut down the opposing offense. He went the distance, tossing seven shutout innings. He was all around the zone, not surrendering a walk during his outing. His final line was 7 IP, 3 Ks, 3 H, 0 BB, 0 R.
