Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri

Each week, the PBR Missouri staff will highlight players from across the state that put up strong performances over their games in that given time frame. These spotlights, mentioned within this ‘Diamond Notes’ piece, are submitted to us by filling out our ‘Diamond Notes’ form, which we’ll tweet out on Tuesday of each week. Coaches can also submit players to be included via email to [email protected].

This week’s edition of ‘Diamond Notes’ starts from Wednesday, April 5th through the end of Wednesday, April 12th.

Learn more about a few names that were submitted via their high school coaches to be recognized within this week's 'Diamond Notes'.

WEEK 4

Carson Adams, Marshfield, 2026
The freshman saw success both at the plate and on the mound for Marshfield throughout an all-around productive week. He had four hits, including a double and two RBIs, while also drawing four walks. He hurled 3 ⅓ innings in a winning effort, scattering five hits and striking out three. At the time of this submission, Adams was batting .417 over 52 plate appearances with nine more walks (12) than strikeouts (3).

Gavyn Beckner, Republic, 2023
Beckner has been a force for the Tigers’ fierce offense all spring and last week was no different. The St. Charles CC signee finished 9-for-14 over three games, doubling twice and swatting a home run, too. Beckner improved his batting average to .429 on the year, driving in nine runs and scoring six times of his own. In addition to that, Beckner was the winning pitcher in a victory over Willard, which adds even more versatility to the senior’s game.

Kaylor Darnell, RHP/3B, Webb City, 2023
The Missouri Southern signee had himself a productive week on both sides of the ball. He led the Cardinals in a win over Branson on the hill, fanning nine batters over seven strong innings, scattering three hits without walking anyone. Darnell swung it well throughout the week, finishing 5-for-12 at the plate, too.

Charlie Miller, RHP, Russellville, 2023
The unquestioned ace of Russellville’s staff, Miller’s dominance showed in a win over New Franklin. Headed to Missouri next fall, Miller fanned 10 batters over five innings of work, issuing one walk and allowing just a hit. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, and he’s 10-for-15 at the plate over his last four games.

Payton Wehner, Lebanon, 2023
Wehner came up huge for Lebanon in a tight 1-0 win over Kickapoo. The Yellowjackets’ senior hurled a complete game shutout, scattering three hits while striking out eight, pitching his team to a win.

Wyatt Woods, Republic, 2024
Woods reached base safely in eight of his 13 plate appearances last week. He drew five walks and had three hits, two of them doubles while one was a triple. Woods also drove in five runs and scored four times on his own.
