By Toby Bicknell
Texas Scouting Director

Our staff is working to become the #1 news source for Prep Baseball across the state of Texas. Remember to follow us on twitter (@PBR_Texas) and reach out to us with any news, commitments, or your upcoming workout and game schedule. We are hosting four EVENTS this winter to allow players the opportunity to be evaluated by our staff with video, scouting reports and verified statistics.

Since the launch of Prep Baseball Report Texas, our staff has been all over the state covering games and evaluating players. We recently released our first ranking with the 2018 class. This week we will be releasing our coverage of the 2019 class. Here are the top uncommitted sophomore catchers from the fall.

TOP 2019 UNCOMMITTED CATCHERS

Nate Rombach, C, Legacy HS
6-foot-3, 185-pound, wiry strong frame. The sophomore's pop times ranged from 2.03-2.08, clean exchange, quick footwork for his age. The arm strength is above average for his age and should continue to improve. Caught some upper-tier arms at the event and handled low-90's velo and low-80's offspeed stuff with ease. Offensively, the right-handed hitter starts from a hunched over stance showing good pop to the pull side. Has good leverage coming from his long arms and can handle balls out over the plate. Hammered a double to the left-center field wall for an rbi going 1-for-2 with a walk on the day.

Kaden Teafatiller, C, Wichita Falls Rider HS
6-foot-2, 180-pound frame. Athletic runner with long strides. He showed good arm strength from behind the plate. Offensively, he went 1-for-3 in the first game with a base hit up the middle and a hard ground ball to second. Game 2 he was 1-for-3 with a base hit to center field and a hard line drive to right field.

Chad Ricker, C/IF, Argyle HS
5-foot-11, 150-pound frame. Defensively has advanced, clean arm action with solid exchange and release. Accurate thrower with 2.2 pop times that will improve with added strength and development. Moved to shortstop for an inning and his defensive actions show the ability to play multiple positions. The switch-hitter batted left-handed all day with a very simple, slightly crouched set-up that produces natural lift. Consistently hit balls on the barrel going 3-for-5 with a double and single to right field, a base hit in the six-hole and two fly balls to right field.

Austin Barry, C/1B, Langham Creek HS
5-foot-10, 175 pound strong frame. Threw 86 from the outfield with good arm action that also translated to accurate throws from behind the plate, his best pop time was 2.01. Solid receiver and clean exchange during games as he threw out a would be base runner. Ran a 7.6 60-yard dash.

Nicholas Balsano, C, Colleyville Heritage HS
6-foot, 180-pound frame. Pop time was 2.09-2.2. He showed an aggressive approach at the plate, putting good swings on balls that were in the zone early in count. He also had a hard base hit to right field.
