Prep Baseball Report Missouri/Kansas held the Fall Underclass Tournament at Legacy Park in Lee's Summit, Missouri on September 15-16.  Five teams made of the field of mostly players in the 2022 class.  Players ran a 60-yard dash and have an updated profile picture. 

Below is a recap of the some of the high lights from the tournament.

Prodigy 2022

Deegan Seely, OF & LHP, Staley HS (2022)
Seely has a small yet stocky frame, athletic build and is a left-handed hitting outfielder and LHP in Missouri’s 2022 class. Seely has good actions offensively, defensively as well as on the mound. Defensively in the OF, Seely gets good reads, showed closing speed and athleticism tracking down fly balls. Offensively, he has a smooth swing, slight upper cut, has the ability to drive the baseball with some pull pop. During game action, Seely tripled and doubled twice to right field and collected four walks on the weekend, 4.84 home-to-first. On the mound, Seely showed a simple, smooth and repeatable delivery. Arm action is clean from a high three quarter slot, fastball is 62-66 mph with arm side run, curveball is 58-59 with gradual action, 1-to-7 shape. 

Chester Brooks, Middle Infield, Smithville HS (2022)
Brooks has a lean frame, athletic build, long limbs and is a right-handed hitting middle infielder and RHP in Missouri’s 2022 class. At the plate, Brooks shows quick hands, good bat speed, looks to pull the baseball, aggressive swing with hard contact. During game action, he reached base a total of nine times on the weekend including three walks, double to left field, triple to center field, 4.76 home-to-first time and stole 2B. On the mound, Brooks pitches with a short, quick arm and an easy, repeatable delivery. Fastball is 63-66 mph and curveball is 56-59 mph.

Jeremiah Halter, Corner Infield, Outfield & RHP, Liberty HS (2022)
Halter has lean build and is an athletic left-handed hitting corner infielder, outfielder and RHP in Missouri’s 2022 class. Defensively, Halter shows good actions, long levers and a strong arm. At the plate, repeatable swing, during game action he showed hard contact and pop to right field, collected two singles on the weekend up the middle, stole 2B, 5.20 home-to-first. On the mound, Halter shows athleticism, clean arm action, fastball is 63-67 mph, curveball is 56-57 mph, scattered 4 hits over 2 and 1/3 innings in game action.

Aaron Lewis, OF & RHP, Liberty North HS (2022)
Lewis has a lean frame, long levers and is a right-handed hitting outfielder and RHP in Missouri’s 2022 class. At the plate, Lewis showed hard contact through his at bats over the weekend with four singles all to the left side of the field, reach base twice on BB, 6.08 home to first (turn). On the mound, Lewis pitches from a three quarter arm slot, fastball is 74-77 mph, tops at 78 mph, arm side run, curveball is 61-63 mph, gradual action, 11-to-5 shape.

Jeremiah Cabuyaban, Catcher, Liberty HS (2022)
Cabuyaban has a bigger frame, stocky build and is a right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Cabuyaban has a presence behind the plate, moves well laterally, receives the ball well at times, fluid footwork, 2.34 second pop time in game action, above average arm strength. Offensively, Cabuyaban reached base safely four times on weekend with two BB, reached on a fielder’s choice and doubled to left center field, 5.58 home-to-first.


Building Champions Grey 15U

Tate Moody, Middle Infielder, RHP, Shawnee Mission East HS (2022)

6 foot, 160-pound athletic build, lean body, long levers, member of Kansas’ class of 2022. Defensively, Moody plays up the middle in the infield, clean arm action, high three quarter release, fluid footwork. During game action, Moody showed plate discipline while walking 3 times in 7 ABs, showed hard contact up the middle with 2 singles, 5.06 home-to-first (turn), 1 stolen base. On the mound, Moody shows a projectable frame, clean arm action, fastball 71-75 mph, curveball 65-66 mph, 12-to-6 shape, thrown with good arm speed.

Nick Dunn, OF, Rockhurst HS (2022)
5-foot-10, 160-pound strong bodied right-handed hitting OF in Missouri’s class of 2022. Defensively, Dunn plays shows off a strong arm with carry in the outfield. Offensively, Dun has as simple and repeatable swing, during game action he reached base 4 times on the day with a single and RBI double, both up the middle.

Ben Bybee, Corner Infielder, RHP, Blue Valley Southwest HS (2022)
6-foot-5, 180-pound, lean frame, athletic build, long levers right-handed hitting corner infielder and RHP in Kansas’ 2022 class. Defensively, Bybee has easy loose arm action and works from a corner infield position. At the plate, he has loose hands, quick bat, repeatable stroke and shows pull side power. During game action, Bybee doubled to left field, 5.14 home-to-first on the turn. Bybee’s athleticism, loose arm and strong levers make a 2022 prospect to keep an eye out for.

Aiden Hachenberg, Middle Infielder, RHP, Blue Valley West HS (2022)
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder and RHP in Kansas’ 2022 class. During game action, Hachenberg reached safely with 2 walks and 1 single to left field, 5.09 home-to-first. On the mound, Hachenberg shows a projectable frame, easy loose arm action, fastball velocity range 70-74 mph, curveball is 64-6 mph, 11-to-5 shape, both pitches thrown for strikes.

Zack Fox, Corner Infielder, RHP, Rockhurst HS (2022)
6-foot-1, 175-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder and RHP in Missouri’s 2022 class. Fox has a large frame, strong athletic build and shows power from the right side offensively. During game action, Fox showed hard contact, 2 doubles, pop to the middle of the field on fastballs, quick hands. On the mound, Fox has an over the top arm slot, changes arm slots at times, fastball worked 71-76 mph, curveball is 62-63 mph, 11-to-5 shape, sharp bite and depth.

Building Champions 15U Navy

Corbin Bassham, Corner Infield, Olathe South HS (2022)

5-foot-10, 140-pound, athletic build, left-handed hitting corner infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. Bassham shows his athleticism defensively, can play both corner infield spots, clean arm action. During game action, Bassham scored 5 runs in two games, showed an opposite field approach at the plate with a double to left field, also reached on a HBP and error, 5.09 home-to-first (turn).

Matt Lancaster, Catcher, Blue Valley West HS (2022)
5-foot-9, 155-pound, right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. Lancaster has an athletic frame, collected 5 hits on the weekend and scored 5 runs. Of Lancaster’s 5 hits, he had two singles, two doubles (left and center field) and tripled to left field as well.

Phillip Dudziak, Catcher, Olathe South HS (2022)
5-foot-11, 190-pound, large frame, stocky build, right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. Defensively, Dudziak shows a relaxed and athletic set up, quick feet, clean transfer, over the top arm slot, pop time of 2.40 seconds. Offensively, Dudziak reached safely in 7 of his 8 plate appearances on the weekend. He tallied 3 walks, singled to both left and center field as well as tripled to right field, scored one run, 5.32 home-to-first.

Andrew Evans, Corner Infielder, Olathe West HS (2022)
6-foot, 160-pounds, lean frame, projectable build, right-handed hitting corner infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. Offensively, Evans shows an athletic stance, good barrel control, middle of the field approach, collected 3 hits on day – two singles and one triple to center field.

Building Champions 15U Brown

Drew Kaufman, OF/2B, Blue Valley Northwest HS (2022)
6-foot, 165-pound, lean build, right-handed hitting infielder and corner outfielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. Offensively during game action, Kaufman scored twice, collected an RBI, stole a base, reached base 3 times with a single, a double to left field and a walk.

Inside Edge 15U Ruhl

Jaxon Kaylor, First Basemen & RHP, Grain Valley HS (2022)
6-foot-4, 180-pound, projectable frame, lean build, right-handed hitting first basemen and RHP in Missouri’s 2022 class. At the plate, Kaylor showed hard contact to the left side of the field, repeatable swing, 5.2 home-to-first. On the mound, Kaylor projects out with his tall and lanky frame, shows a high three quarter arm slot, clean arm action, fastball is 72-73 mph, arm side run locates at the bottom of the strike zone, curveball is 60-64 mph, shows 11-to-5 shape. 

Luke Ruhl, Corner Infield, OF & RHP, Lee’s Summit HS (2022)
Ruhl has an athletic build, lean frame and is a right-handed hitting corner infielder, outfielder and RHP in Missouri’s 2022 class. Defensively, Ruhl shows his athleticism and good actions in the field. At the plate, Ruhl has good bat speed, quick hands, pop to left field and showed that he can handle pitches on the inner half of the plate. During game action Ruhl reached base multiple times with one occurrence being a hard contact double over the left fielder’s head, 4.77 home-to-first. 

Jackson Magargee, Catcher & SS, Kingsville HS (2022)
5-foot-10, 142-poud, lean frame, athletic build, left-handed hitting catcher and middle infielder in Missouri’s 2022 class. Magaree showed good actions behind the plate, quick lateral movements, fluid footwork and showed a 2.39 second pop time. Offensively, Magargee looks to drive the ball to the gaps with leverage, 4.39 home-to-first, 7.80 home-to second, hard contact to right center field for a double in game action.
