Mount Hebron's starting left-handed pitcher Finn Devine was outstanding Tuesday afternoon keeping the River Hill Hawks at bay for much of the game. The Vikings came out on fire in the top of the first scoring four runs before the crowd ever had a chance to settle in.

A Hawks error, a hit-by-pitch, and a walk loaded the bases to begin the frame setting the stage for two blasts. The first came off the bat of Jimmy Jaecksch as he drove one deep into the left-center field gap for a two-RBI double that scored Vikings lead-off man Tyler Lizzo and Magnus Dunn. Two pitches later, Tommy Fitzpatrick sent a deep drive into the right-center field gap for a triple plating Dylan Holzman and Jaecksch. A great play at third base by Danny Selby (Susquehanna) robbed Josh Barke's frozen rope line drive to save another run as he doubled up Fitzpatrick to clear the bases.

Following a lead-off single by Lucas Gitelman in the bottom of the first, Devine struck out the side and set the tone for more of what was to come. Devine was able to keep River Hill hitters guessing at the plate all afternoon throwing four pitches for strikes and mixing them well throughout. He finished the game going six and two-thirds striking out nine while scattering five hits and gave up zero earned runs.

Mount Hebron would add another run in the third and fifth, and two more in the sixth to take a commanding 8-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. In the seventh, River Hill took advantage of two Viking defensive miscues in the infield to start a two out rally. The Hawks would score four in total highlighted by a two-RBI line drive single to right field from Connor Coleman but it was too little to late as Dylan Bernard came in and struck out Ryan Lynn to end the game.

With the 8-4 win; Mount Hebron improves to (9-4) on the season (9-1 in Howard County), while the Hawks fall to (7-6) overall and (5-4 in Howard County).
