Florence Darlington Tech Scout Day: Quick Hitters - Position Players

On Wednesday September 27th PBR of South Carolina was on hand at Florence Darlington Tech  for a scout day. The scout day featured players from the Stingers Fall 2023 roster.

The afternoon started with catchers going through a defensive evaluation then pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting data analytics. After the bullpens position players ran a laser timed 60 followed by BP on the field with Trackman collecting ball flight data. After BP outfielders and infielders went through a defensive evaluation.

Quick Hitters

Shemar Simes, Fr. INF

230-pound frame at a height of 6-1.  Exhibited a pull side approach with a quick strokes through the zone. Demonstrating his prowess to drive the baseball.  Throughout all of the rounds, showed heavy contact.  With a maximum distance of 422 feet, the day's top exit velocity was 107.6 mph.


Braiden Moore, Fr. 1B

6-4, 220 pounds, and possesses a strong, athletic build.  He strides with a moderate lift, a forward stride, and a balanced hitting position while standing tall and serene and with rhythm in his hands.  With pull side power, had a max exit velo of 107.4 mph and a max distance of 397 feet.   Really rotates through the ball well, allowing for quick hands and a bat to be produced.


Michael Gibson, So. 3B

Strong athletic frame at 6-3 205 pounds.  Hits from a wide base with a medium lift in and medium stride to balance.  Swing is flat through the zone with a line drive approach with good hand speed.  Shows big power with aggressive swings.  Max exit velo of 105.8 mph and a max distance of 400 feet. 


Rom Kellis, So. C, North Carolina Commit

Strong frame at 6-0 210 pounds.  Big time power in the bat with bat speed from a short compact swing.  Consistent hard contact while having some natural lift in swing while showing the ability to drive the ball to all fields.  Max exit velo of 105.7 mph and a max distance of 408 feet.  Behind the plate showed off impressive quickness and arm strength, with a top pop time of 1.82.  


Tyler-James Nelson, Fr. 1B

6-3 220 large physical frame.  Hits from a simple setup with a small toe tap to load up.  Short flat stroke through the zone with a line drive approach.  Max exit velo of 104.7 mph and a max distance of 389 feet.  


Wade Pauley, Fr. INF

Strong physical frame at 6-3 225 pounds.  Left hander hits from a slightly open stance with a toe tap to balance.  Good bat speed in swing with an aggressive pull side approach.  Showed good pop in the bat with a max exit velo of 103.4 mph and a max distance of 385 feet.   


TJ Anderson, So. INF

6-0 195 pound athletic frame with good strength.  Hits from an upright stance with a medium leg lift in.  Lefty has a flat stroke through the ball with a line drive approach.  Short swing that produced a max exit velo of 103.1 mph and a max exit distance of 352 feet.


Jayden Martin, So. 1B

Extra large physical frame at 6-7 230 pounds.  Wider base and a simple setup with a small stride forward.  Short swing that worked above the ball with a pull side approach.  Had a max exit velo of 103.1 mph and a max distance of 385 feet.


JP Cunningham, So. OF/INF

5-9 171 pound frame with lots of athleticism.  Good rhythm in hands and upright stance from a wider base.  Has a medium leg lift to balance with a short quick swing and has some natural lift.  Swing produced a max exit velo of 101.9 and a max distance of 332 feet.


Emory Guilford, So. OF

6-1 205 pound physical frame.  Left hander hits from a narrow upright stance with a small lift and forward movement.  Swing works above the ball with a pull side approach, with lots of line drive and ground balls.  Had a max exit velo of 101.9 mph and a max distance of 379 feet.


Jake Bidoglio, So. INF

6-3 220 pound physical frame.  Simple setup with a small lift and stride.  Swing is short and flat through the zone.  A line drive approach while making consistent hard contact.  Swing produced a max exit velo of 101.5 mph and a max distance of 337 feet.


Devon Mitchell, Fr. OF

6-1 195 pound athletic frame.  Wide base with a toe tap load.  Swing is flat through the zone with good bat speed.  A line drive approach with lots of hard contact.  Had a max exit velo of 101.2 mph and a max distance of 358 feet.  


Josh Campos, So. OF

6-1 185 pound frame with good strength.  Hits from a simple setup with a medium leg lift.  Strength at contact with a short compact swing.  Natural lift in swing and producing a max exit velo of 101 mph and a max distance of 373 feet.


Tyler Kamerer, So. INF

5-10 180 strong frame.  Hits from a slightly opened and wider base.  Uses a medium leg lift to get loaded.  Consistent hard contact in BP while showing the ability to use the big part of the field while working above the ball.  Had a max exit velo of 100.9 mph and a max distance of 382 feet.


Byrce Coulter, Fr. INF

6-2 210 pound lean athletic frame.  Loose athletic stance with a controlled leg lift to a good balanced hitting position.  Swing extends through the zone with a lower finish while showing good strength in hands.  Had a max exit velo of 100.7 mph and a max distance of 391 feet.    


Tanner Beckley, Fr. INF

6-0 188 pound athletic frame.  Left hander hits from a wider base with a small lift and stride.  Simple stroke while staying flat through the zone.  Stayed above the ball while using the whole field.  Had a max exit velo of 100.4 mph and a max distance of 395 feet.


Mac James, So. C

6-3 195 pound strong athletic frame.  Hits from an upright stance with a big turn in and good forward movement to balance.  Shows good strength in swing while having an aggressive line drive approach.  Had a max exit velo of 100.1 mph and a max distance of 385 feet.
