This one-of-a-kind event (Future Games) will include individual workouts and three games against various competition across the country.

Here are a few standouts from the first couple of days in Atlanta from both the Future Games and Junior Future Games workouts…

Future Games

+ OF Eric “EJ” Booth (2026, Oak Grove) stepped into the spotlight at the Future Games workout on Wednesday with a bang. The rising 10th grader started the day with an impressive 6.46 60 as one of the youngest players at the event. Booth then stepped into the box and rattled off easy high 90 exit velocities (T98) showing loft to his swing and definite big time power potential from the left side. Also a left handed thrower with arm strength still developing (85 mph from OF) and as the tools continue to pile up, look for the Oak Grove High School product to be very busy on August 1st of next year.

+ INF Baylor Roberts (2025, Saltillo) could have attended the event last year but probably needed a year of overall body maturity. At the Future Games workout the versatile infielder from Saltillo showed off some of the smoothest hands you will see no matter the class. The hands were solid last year, though the frame was smaller and needed a little time. Roberts has gained significant size, though still has room for more, and it shows in other areas of his game including at the plate where he shows a line drive, all fields approach and exit velocities up to 90 mph. His arm on the infield is up to 82 mph with more coming, and shows very good range with big play potential.

+ Utility Drew Holliman (2025, East Union) does not intimidate anyone with size but you better not underestimate him or he will embarrass you. The spark plug from East Union can handle an array of positions including behind the plate. Quickness and footwork allows Holliman to produce pop times slightly under 2.0 with a best of 1.93 on Wednesday. In the outfield, where he should get most of his playing time at the next level, Holliman shows instincts and gap quickness (6.83 60) with a solid arm up to 86 mph. At the plate, the right handed hitter shows a middle to pull side approach and tons of line drives.

+ INF Dayne Wray (2025, Tupelo) seems to have been flying under the radar but exploded onto the scene at the Future Games workout on Wednesday with an impressive showing. The slick fielding Wray has the potential to play multiple infield positions at the next level with plus range and a solid arm. In the box, Wray belted line drivers to all fields with intent and plus bat speed. The rising junior from Tupelo should begin to get plenty of attention next week.

Junior Future Games

+ OF Crews Albritton (2027, Tri County Academy) showed off a very loud bat from the left side at the Junior Future Games workout held on Tuesday at Lakepoint. The rising freshman used some loft to his swing with a pull side approach to pound baseballs into the right center gap. Those gaps won’t be able to hold him long as it’s pretty evident more power is on the way. Stay tuned…

+ C Wyatt McDaniels (2027, Mooreville) had the highest exit velocity of the Mississippi players at the Junior Future Games with an impressive 98.7 mph recording. The C/3B has a large, wiry frame that is beginning to sturdy up and will result in a dangerous opponent for opposing pitcher soon. McDaniels is a very solid catching prospect as well with pop times consistently around 2.0 and a mid 70’s arm behind the plate.

+ OF/LHP Axton Westmoreland (2028, Magnolia Heights) is proving himself as a young talented two way prospect. The lefty/lefty from Magnolia Heights showed off a very fundamental swing on Tuesday with a line driver, middle to pull side approach at the plate. His upside on the mound is even more evident at the moment with a loose arm and a mature delivery. The body screams much more velocity is on the way. Definitely a must follow from the 2028 class!

+ Utility Gavin Watkins (2028, Madison Ridgeland Academy) has an intriguing swing from the left side that makes you want to see where he is this time next year. He still has overall growth and body maturity ahead of him, though the rising 8th grader put together some very solid swings on Tuesday. Our eyes will follow this youngster and report back!
