GA's End-of-the-Month Roundup: February

Today’s March 1 and there’s already a ton of baseball in the books.

With Georgia’s high school season in the middle of its third week of action, there’s been plenty to report on and share so far in 2019. The PBR Georgia staff used February to continue to preview the 2019 GHSA season and publish the first edition of its GA Power 25 Rankings. Across all PBR channels, February marks the start of the road to June’s MLB Draft. We held our 17th annual Super 60 pro showcase in the Chicagoland area at the start of last month, which generally marks the start of the new PBR calendar, for all intents and purposes.

GHSA COVERAGE

Week 1 (Feb. 18): A quick and dirty look at the GA Power 25 table and who did what in the first week of play.
Week 2 (Feb. 25): Our first real Power 25 update; rain prevented us from making any dramatic shifts, but there’s still plenty of notes to check in on from last week. Parkview is off to a predictably strong start. The same can be said about North Paulding. We introduce you to our first two bubble teams of the season, too: Etowah and Hillgrove.
GHSA Diamond Notes (2/18 to 2/25): Coaches across Georgia submitted Player of the Week candidates to us and we published our findings.
PBR Georgia’s POTW: RHP Mason Barnett; the Auburn-bound righty helped the Canes beat rivals Blessed Trinity last week, en route to his POTW honor.

GA SCOUT BLOG

PBR Georgia’s Scouting Director Blake Davis bounced all over the state last week and PBR North Florida Scouting Director made his way north into Georgia to take in some GHSA action, too: East Paulding vs. South Cobb | 2019 Battle at the Beach: Pt. 1 | Houston County, Pace Academy, Allatoona notes | Holy Innocents’, Fellowship Christian, North Cobb, East Paulding notes | McEachern vs. Creekview.
The Rode Show: PBR’s National Supervisor Nathan Rode is in Georgia this week and weekend and kicked off his coverage by making it out to RHP Alex McFarlane’s latest start at Habersham Central.
LaGrange Toyota Invitational: The 2019 tournament is as loaded as ever, featuring prospects like Tyler Callihan from Florida, South Forsyth’s own Landon Sims, and Alabama’s top-ranked Ethan Hearn. We’ll have scout notes some time next week, but we previewed all eight teams who are headed out today and tomorrow in the aforementioned link.
