Lapel senior Cameron Holycross and Wapahani senior Chandler Wise did not disappoint on the mound Thursday night in the sectional semi final at Frankton. Holycross and the Lapel Bulldogs defeated Wapahani, 3-1.

Uncommitted 2018 Cameron Holycross won the battle between the two starters, throwing a complete game three hitter, striking out 12 Wapahani batters and only allowing 1 run. Wise, the IU-Kokomo commit, took the loss for Wapahani but was spectacular for the Raiders, throwing 6 strong innings, giving up only 4 hits, striking out 8, giving up 3 runs, none of those were earned.

Both starters cruised through the first three innings, making quick work of opposing hitters, forcing early contact or swing and misses, keeping the score locked at 0-0. In the top of the 4th, after Lapel's first two hitters struck out, senior Satchell Wilson crushed a 2-out double over the centerfielders head. After an error that scored Wilson from 2nd base and another single, Cameron Holycross singled home 2 more, pushing the score to 3-0 after 3 1/2 innings. That would turn out to be all that Holycross needed.

Wapahani battled back in the bottom of the 4th, manufacturing 1 run before getting runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. Holycross struck out the Wapahani hitter to leave the runners stranded and get out of the jam. Teams went back and forth in the 5th and 6th innings, putting runners on base but not able to push another run across. A diving catch in the 6th by Garrett Stanley in centerfield saved two runs for the Raiders.

In the bottom of the 7th, Wapahani sent the top of the lineup up to bat with Holycross looking to close the game out. With one out, Garrett Stanley doubled to centerfield allowing the tying run to step up to the plate with two outs. Catcher and three hole hitter for Wapahani ended up popping up to shortstop to end the game.

Lapel will advance on to play Frankton at Frankton High School on Monday afternoon at 1:00pm. Probable starters will be 2019 uncommitted Connor Gill for Lapel and 2018 Morehead State commit Landen Weins for Frankton.
