Hoosier Holiday Showcase: Outfield Analysis

On Saturday, December 16th, we hosted the annual Hoosier Holiday Showcase at Roundtripper Sports Academy in Westfield, IN. Earlier this week we began to roll out the player analysis starting with the catchers. Today we look at the outfielders in attendance.

Top Prospect

Gabe Landeros 3B / OF / Cathedral , IN / 2020

Lanky, 6-foot-3, 160 pound outfielder displayed a balanced setup with hands preloaded back. Features a leg kick into stride, minimal hand load. Quick barrel turn to contact. Creates extension. Gap to gap power present with more to come. Line drive hitter. High exit velocity of 80mph. Defensively, he plays through the baseball with clean transfer into high 3/4 release. Throws peaked at 85mph. Ran a 7.28 laser timed 60 yard dash. High ceiling for the sophomore.

Cole Connor LHP / OF / Zionsville, IN / 2019

5-foot-9, 155 pounds, Connor hits from a tall, open setup. Slight leg kick used as a timing trigger. Good balance, fluid movements. Average bat speed in a level path. Line drive approach. Defensively, he plays through the ball with above average glove work and transfer. Throws topped 80 from the outfield.

Devin Gross OF / LHP / Decatur Central, IN / 2018

5-foot-11, 170 pound right-handed hitter has a slightly open, tall setup with rhythm in his load. Slight leg kick into heavy landing. Long, slightly uphill bat path. Above average bat speed. Line drive hitter with gap to gap approach. Defensively, throws topped 88 with similar throwing mechanics compared to mound. Plays through the baseball.

ADAM HUEKELS

OF / RHP / MARIAN CATHOLIC , IL / 2020

5-foot-11, 150 pound outfielder ran a 7.14 60 yard dash. Hits from a balanced setup, featuring a slight leg kick as hands load back. Long bat path, tends to drag. High exit velocity of 79mph. Defensviely, he plays through the baseball with clean transfer into high 3/4 release. Throws topped 82mph.

Cody Hupp LHP / OF / Gibson Southern , IN / 2019

6-foot, 185 pound left-handed hitter has a heel lift for stride as hands load back. Rotational swing. Short path to contact, inside-out approach. High exit velocity of 81mph. Defensively, he plays through the baseball with a stiff lower half and high 3/4 arm slot. Throws topped 83mph in the outfield.

Tyler Parker RHP / OF / Leo , IN / 2019

6-foot-3, 190 pound right-handed hitter features a toe tap and short hand load. Choppy rhythm. Lacks extension at contact. High exit velocity of 80mph. Throws topped at 81 mph. Ran a 7.83-60.

Karter Hann 1B / LHP / Harrison, IN / 2021
