The Prep Baseball Report IA Top Prospect Games event took place on Sunday, August 5, 2018. The event was held at the Robert W. Plaster Complex in Cedar Rapids, IA; home of Mount Mercy University. The event featured prospects from the 2019 grad class; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and numerous college coaches in attendance. 

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the IA Top Prospect Games.

As we drill down into the statistics: 

+ 31 players ran sub 7.2 60-Yard Dashes
+ 39 players recorded 85+ mph Exit Velocities
+ 14 players recorded 80+ mph Infield Throws
+ 14 players recorded 80+ mph Outfield Throws
+ 12 catchers recorded 70+ mph throws to second base
+ 8 catchers recorded sub-2.1 Pop Times
+ 25 pitchers were 80+ mph on the mound

CATCHER EVALS (ALPHABETIC

AL)

Ty Arguello, C, Newton, 2019
5-foot-8, 125-pound left-handed hitting catcher. #118 ranked player in IA 2019 class. 7.6 runner. Settles into lower hitting slot, choppy rhythm, ground balls to pull side, flare oppo, with occasional line drive contact to middle of field, 72 mph exit velocity. Low base, quicker feet and release, solid accuracy to bag, receiving should improve with added strength, 70 mph arm strength with 2.15-2.2 pop times.

Tolik Bartz, C, Winterset, 2019
6-foot, 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.45 runner. Open stance, easier load, clean path with lift through contact, harder pull line drives, flares oppo, 69 mph exit velocity. Clean exchange, solid footwork, some effort in release, avg. accuracy, inconsistent receiving velocity. avg. blocker, 68 mph arm strength with 2.21-2.27 pop times.

Jackson Fisher, C/RHP, Chariton, 2019
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #37 ranked player in IA 2019 class. 7.02 runner. Square stance with easy load and stride, line drive approach, produces hard contact to mid/pull side of field, 91 mph exit velocity. Athletic behind the plate, soft hands, above avg. carry on throws, has accuracy to bag, above avg. receiver and blocker, 78 mph arm strength with 1.96-2.08 pop times.

Peyton Lindmark, C, Pleasant Valley, 2019
5-foot-8, 160-pound left-handed hitting catcher. #56 ranked player in IA 2019 class. Probably 15 lbs. away from being early contributor in college. 7.13 runner. Wide stance with body load, quick hands, consistently produces hard line drive contact to all fields, clean path, and shows ability to hit, 79 mph exit velocity. Athletic actions behind the plate, easy movements, accurate arm to bag with quick release, able to stick pitches in zone and has mobility behind the plate, 76 mph arm strength with 1.90-2.06 pop times.

Remington Lockwood, C, Middleton (WI), 2019
6-foot, 178-pound switch-hitting catcher. 7.64 runner. Clean path from left-side, line drive approach, stays compact, shows ability to square baseball consistently, inconsistent from right-side, flyball contact, gap to gap approach, 87 mph exit velocity. Good frame behind plate with ability to receive, has lateral mobility, ability to block, solid baseball IQ and directs traffic on field well, accurate to bag, longer exchange to release, 78 mph arm strength with 2.09-2.22 pop times.

Brady Lukavsky, C, West Branch, 2019
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.57 runner. Closed stance, longer hand load, flat swing plane, line drive and ground ball contact, routinely squares baseball, 87 mph exit velocity. Raw behind plate, side saddle setup, long release on throws, has sure glove, receives well, needs improvement in blocking, 77 mph arm strength with 2.17-2.27 pop times.

Liam McComas, C, Iowa City, 2019
6-foot-2, 200-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.41 runner. Strong durable frame, choppy rhythm, double tap trigger, lower hand slot with short finish through contact, present strength, squares baseball, has projectable pop in bat, 92 mph exit velocity. Avg. footwork, solid arm strength, longer release, has sure hands behind plate, solid athlete, and moves well for size, 77 mph arm strength with 2.00-2.13 pop times. Solid performance at event and will make jump into IA 2019 rankings.

Cade Moss, SS/C, Johnston, 2019
5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitting utility player. #70 ranked player in IA 2019 class. 7.03 runner. Open stance, shoulder load, looks to elevate, squares baseball consistently, shows pop in bat to pull side of field, 86 mph exit velocity. Quick feet with short quick release, online throws with accuracy, solid receiver and athletic behind plate, 76 mph arm strength with 1.09-2.03 pop times. 80 mph arm across infield, works around and through with soft hands, has solid actions in field, with ability to throw from multiple angles.

Noah Mumby, C, Iowa Valley Marengo, 2019
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.4 runner. Wider stance with leg kick trigger, flat swing plane, routinely squares baseball, line drive and fly ball contact with avg. pop in bat, 79 mph exit velocity. Works through plate, long release on throws, avg. accuracy, avg. receiver, tends to lose balls out of zone, 71 mph arm strength with 2.15-2.28 pop times.

Tyler Oberbroeckling, C, Linn Marr, 2019
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #32 ranked player in IA 2019 class. 7.45 runner. 91 mph exit velocity. Balanced athletic stance, looks to elevate, hard pull contact, shows solid pop in bat with present strength. Athletic behind plate, soft sure hands, receives and blocks well, efficient movements on catch and throw, consistent and accurate to bag, 75 mph arm strength with 2.01-2.04 pop times.

Garrett Ries, C, Cedar Rapids Xavier, 2019
6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting catcher. #8 ranked player in IA 2019 class and South Dakota State commit. 6.83 runner. Easy rhythm in hands, squares baseball with authority, gap to gap approach with pop in bat to gaps, 87 mph exit velocity. Athletic behind plate, quick twitch actions, hands are sure, sure ability to receive, mobile and is above avg. blocker, some small things to clean up on catch and throw, projects very well for the college level, 74 mph arm strength with 1.94-2.00 pop times.

Hunter Simpson, C, Dowling Catholic, 2019
5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #78 ranked player in IA 2019 class. 7.39 runner. Body load with leg kick trigger, pull approach, looks to lift, hard ground ball contact to pull side with line drives to middle of field, 86 mph exit velocity. Solid footwork, some stiffness in release, accurate to bag, avg. blocker, handles pitches around zone well to receive, 74 mph arm strength with 2.14-2.19 pop times.

Jayson Willers, C, Davenport Assumption, 2019
6-foot-1, 205-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #38 ranked player in IA 2019 class. 7.78 runner. Tall stance with body load, short compact swing, has present strength, hard line drive and fly ball contact, works mid/pull side of field, 88 mph exit velocity. Sure hands, flexible and moves well for size, efficient exchange and release, accurate to bag with online throws that have carry, 75 mph arm strength with 1.89-2.01 pop times.
