Lyons Township 5, Nazareth 3
The defending 2012 IHSBCA/Phil Lawler Summer State Champions Lyons Township is back in next week’s 2013 IHSBCA/Phil Lawler Summer State Tournament Finals. Lion LF Connor Pavletic’s monster grand-slam homer highlighted the Lions 5-run second inning as the Lions went on to win the 2013 Nazareth Academy Summer Regional crown.  

Senior LHP Max Larson, All-Tournament in the 2012 Lawler Classic, allowed one earned run and three hits in his fine 4 2/3 innings of work to pick up the win   

GLENBARD SOUTH
Plainfield East 12, Benet Academy 6
For the second game in a row Plainfield East (16-10-1) pounded out 17 hits and rolled past the Redwings for the regional crown. Jovany Urbieta led the Bengals with a perfect 4-for-4 day with two homers a double single and six RBI. Bengal C Mike McGee went deep singled and drove home a pair while Bengal leadoff man Jeremy Dutton had four hits and an RBI.

LAKE PARK
Huntley 12, Lake Park 2

LIBERTYVILLE
Libertyville 5, Carmel 2
The Wildcats, who lost 2-1 to Mount Carmel for the Class 4A state Title on June 8, rolled past Carmel of Mundelein, to advance to the Phil Lawler Summer State Finals Monday at Benedictine. Junior Ben Manski led the Wildcats past the Corsairs. Manski’s three-run bomb in the third gave the Wildcats a 3-0 lead they would never relinquish. Senior SS Jimmy Govern had three hits and an RBI while Manski allowed two runs in his fine 5 2/3 innings of work on the mound to get the win.  

St. Charles East
St. Charles East 9, Geneva 1
St. Charles East (19-12), which finished third in Class 4A in the spring, trounced the Vikings to advance to the Phil Lawler Summer State Tournament Finals at Benedictine University in Lisle next week. Junior Jake Rykoskey led the Fighting Saints attack with two singles a double and five big RBI.
