Illinois Underclass Trials: Preview

The summer’s showcase circuit is off and running and high school prospects who are members of graduating classes 2022, 2023, and 2024 are all open to register for the Illinois Underclass Trials, taking place on Wednesday, June 10, at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg.

This event has been held since 2014 and over 250 committed prospects, and counting, have participated in its history. There are already four commits among the 2019 roster, including RHP Brennyn Cutts (Toledo-Cumberland, 2021; Indiana State commit) and SS Holt Geltmaker (Illinois Valley Central, 2021; Illinois).

Underclass Trials also helps our PBR Illinois staff identify 2022 and 2023 prospects to invite to August’s illustrious PBR Future Games event. Cutts was a member of Team Illinois last year, as was fellow Underclass Trials participant RHP Tom Egan (Mount Carmel, 2021; uncommitted). We’re looking forward to discovering more potential Team Illinois representatives at Wednesday’s event, too.

Already registered and headed to Schaumburg this Wednesday are several uncommitted 2022 arms who’ve made strong impressions on our staff in previous looks: RHP Ashton Izzi (Oswego East, 2022), and RHP David Andolina (Oak Park-River Forest, 2022). OF Myles Supurgeci (Mount Carmel) and INF/RHP Easton Harris (Washington) are two position players ranked in the ‘22 class who showed well multiple times over the winter.

The event should also feature a plethora of 2023 prospects to keep an eye on. Some notables include RHP Grant Tenuta (Sandburg, 2023), OF/LHP Tommy Townsend (Sycamore, 2023), Eli Kieser (Normal U-High), Adam Schilz (Warren), RHP/CIF Christian Graves (Marengo) and a host of others.
