New England Inside the Recruitment:  Luke Broadhurst, SS

Luke BroadhurstLuke Broadhurst, SS, Stafford, 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Uconn?
Broadhurst: I chose UConn because of the experience it will give me, and I know this is the place where I will be able to reach my fullest potential on the field and in the classroom.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Broadhurst: I was also looking at Quinnipiac, Duke, and Fairfield.

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?
Broadhurst: The coaches first saw me play at one of my legion games, and also at the PBR event and Perfect Game. As soon as I met with the coaches, I instantly felt comfortable and knew that they would be able to get me to where I need to be.

PBR: What role does the coaching staff expect you to play during your first year on campus?
Broadhurst: My first year on campus I will be able to compete and win a position in the middle of the field.

PBR: How excited were you to have your commitment out of the way?
Broadhurst: I was extremely excited as it was a relief as it can be stressful but I am confident that I have made the best decision.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Broadhurst: My dad has had the biggest impact on me as a baseball player because ever since I was little he has taught me everything I know today. He was definitely someone I would look up to and knew I could go to for anything.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?
Broadhurst: I play for Tolland Legion in the summer. My most exciting experience playing summer ball was definitely being able to play at The historic Muzzy Field going into my sophomore year.

PBR: What were your stats last season?
Broadhurst: .541 AVG, 18 RBIs, .646 OBP, .743 Slugging %.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in CT?
Broadhurst: The toughest pitcher I have faced in CT would be Robbie Hitt.

PBR: How has PBR helped in your recruitment process?
Broadhurst: PBR has been a huge part of my recruitment process as it was my first showcase and it really started the process for me.

PBR: Thoughts on this upcoming season?
Broadhurst: I am very excited for this upcoming season as I am going to see the benefits of hard work and dedication in the offseason.
