Christopher Winkel, 1B/OF, Amity (CT), 2016

PBR: How does it feel to have your college commitment out of the way?

Winkel: It's a relief. Now I can concentrate on improving my game so I will be better prepared for the next level.

PBR: Who influenced you the most in your college decision?

Winkel: My family was supportive throughout the process but left the final decision up to me. My coaches helped me focus on what each school had to offer and identify what was important.

PBR: What was the determining factor in your final decision?

Winkel: I felt a connection with the UConn coaching staff when I visited, and I really liked the campus.

PBR: What are your personal and team goals for the spring?

Winkel: To improve on all aspects of my game, both physical and mental. Our team goal is to win a 3rd straight state championship.

PBR: How do you plan to improve your game as you head into college baseball

Winkel: Work as hard as I can everyday at practice and in the weight room. As I am only a junior, I have another year before I go to college and the more work I put in now, the better prepared I will be.

PBR: Who do you look to for guidance on and off the field, who has been instrumental in your life?

Winkel: My parents obviously provide me guidance both on and off the field. They have given me support throughout all my athletic endeavors since I was small. Additionally, all the coaches that I have played for throughout the years have helped me become a better baseball player.
