Spencer Aukerman, RHP, Medina HS, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Baldwin Wallace?

Aukerman: I chose Baldwin Wallace because they were a great fit for me academically and they have had a lot of success in their baseball program that I am excited to become apart of.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Aukerman: Ohio Wesleyan, Hiram,

PBR: What was the relationship you had with the Coach Harrison and the rest of the coaching staff in the recruitment process?

Aukerman: I have really enjoyed building a relationship with Coach Harrison and Coach DeAngelis. They both reached out to me and made themselves available to talk and answer questions whenever I had them and they made the recruiting process really enjoyable.

PBR:  Where did Baldwin Wallace first see you compete?

Aukerman: The PBR Unsigned Senior Games at Wright State.

PBR: Coach Harrison has been able to turnaround every program that he has coached and just recently lead BW to the Division III College World Series.  How does it feel to be part of such a program on the rise?

Aukerman: It is really exciting, seeing all that Coach Harrison has accomplished has made me even more excited to jump in and get started. I can't wait to get to work to try and help the team to return to the College World Series.

PBR: Baldwin Wallace has made a lot of facility upgrades, including turf to their baseball field. How much of a role did this play in your decision?

Aukerman: It wasn't much of a factor in my decision to go to Baldwin Wallace, but it is definitely an advantage and something I am excited about.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help as a Yellow Jacket?

Aukerman: My biggest strength as a player is my competitiveness, I hate giving up runs and feeling like I didn't give my team a chance to win the game. When I'm on the mound I am always competing my hardest and doing whatever I can to get guys out, and I think that will definitely help me in my future as a Yellow Jacket.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Aukerman: I played with the Northern Ohio Hurricanes this past summer. The most memorable experience was  just playing with a group of guys that I have played with for many years and have gotten really close to.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Aukerman: My Dad has had the biggest impact on me, he got me started playing the game of baseball and is always there for me no matter what. He has always been willing to do whatever he can to help me and is at every single game to watch and support me.

PBR:  What were your stats last spring?

Aukerman: Last Spring I was 2-2 with a 3.5 ERA. I also batted .385.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Aukerman: DJ Wilson, I only faced him once but it was really exciting getting to compete against a player as talented as he is.
