Jon Snyder, RHP, Bishop Fenwick, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Youngstown State?

Snyder: When I visited I was extremely impressed with the facilities. I really gelled with the coaches and felt that it was the best overall fit for me as a person and an athlete.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Snyder: Wright State, Eastern Michigan, Eastern Illinois, Walsh University

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you and how did your relationship develop?

Snyder: The Coaching staff first saw me on film, then came to watch me throw in person. Our relationship developed with help from my summer coach Kyle Wainscott, in the Midland Organization,  getting Coach Smith and I in touch, and we stayed in contact frequently.

PBR: This summer you participated in PBR’s Top Prospects Games.  How did your performance help you in the recruiting process?

Snyder: The Unsigned Senior games were more beneficial to me than the TPG due to my performance. They allowed me to get my numbers out for a lot of schools to see.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Snyder: It is an amazing privilege, but it means that I have to work extremely hard to be successful and to help the team as much as I can.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Snyder: I played for the Midland Braves this summer, and the most memorable moment for me was the entire summer as a whole, because we were able to compete at a very high level and still have some of the most fun as a team I have ever been a part of.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Snyder: My dad has had a great impact on my baseball career, because when ever i was tired or wanted to skip a workout, my dad would always remind me of my goals and tell me that if i wanted to play division 1 then I need to work as hard as I could.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Snyder: Cal Conley
