Kyle LaCalameto, LHP, Kings HS, Class of 2018

PBR: Why did you choose Dayton?

LaCalameto: I was blown away by the new coaching staff and the school's facilities. The coaches are enthusiastic to start building the program into what they know it can be. They are eager to help me develop my physical and mental game. During my senior year of high school, they will support me with their nutritional and weight training programs.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

LaCalameto: Ohio Dominican University, University of Cincinnati, Coker College, UNC Charlotte

PBR: Where did the Dayton coaches first see you?

LaCalameto: Brownlee Lookouts' Showcase at Oberlin College

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

LaCalameto: Brownlee Lookouts, coaches Statskey & Boazman. Final game of my season pitching a 1 hit shut-out, complete game.

PBR:  Coach King was just hired as the new UD coach, how does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?

LaCalameto: It's exciting to be part of the beginning of something great. I know he and his staff are going to work hard to recruit for the class of 2018 & beyond. They are motivated to build UD's program into something big.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 program?

LaCalameto: It's awesome. It was my goal to be a D1 player and to know that I have the opportunity to pitch my freshman year, is really motivating.
