KSHSAA Team Preview: Oxford

Andy Urban
Regional Supervisor

The Kansas high school season is nearing quickly, and we're here to cover it. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Team: Oxford Wildcats
League: South Central Border
2022 Record: 7-11

Head Coach: Kyle Green
Years at the Helm: 12

OUTLOOK

We are experienced. Return our top 8 players from last year, had 11 kids start games last year. We have a deep pitching staff. Alot of kids that we have developed over the last few years that can contribute at the varsity level. Much like our state teams of recent years, these guys work hard at pounding the zone and being efficient.

While we do have a lot of arms, somebody needs to establish themselves as our bona fide ace. Defensively we need to cut down on our mental mistakes that lead to errors. Offensively we have to set the table better this year for the heart of our order. Overall we need to compete at a higher level than we have in the last couple of years.
