It was a beautiful early spring day for baseball around the state last night. The following is a look at scores and highlights from all the action.

Power 25 Scores

#1 St. Xavier 6, #7 LCA 3
John Paul Jardina went 2-for-3 with a RBI, Jack Thompson went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, Ben Purnell collected 2 hits, and Jake Bennett drove in 2 runs in the Tigers win. Ty Starke allowed 1 hit and no runs with 5 K’s over 4 innings for the victory. Quinten Shewmaker worked 3 hitless innings with 6 K’s to close out the win.

West Jessamine 3, #2 Danville 2
West Jessamine picked up an impressive early season win as lefty Hayden Smith allowed just 2 hits and 1 run with 7 K’s over 4 innings. Riley Uhls pitched the final 3 innings allowing 1 unearned run to close out the victory. Uhls also had 2 RBI at the plate to pace the West Jess offense. Brady Morse homered in the Danville loss.

#4 Frederick Douglass 10, #25 Whitley County 3
Douglass used a 7-run 7th inning to break open a tie game late for the victory. RJ Parks went 2-for-3 with a RBI, Jack Gross doubled and drove in 4 runs, and Gavin Faulkner hit a two-run homer. Faulkner and Leighton Harris combined for 14 strikeouts while allowing just 2 hits. Caden Petrey homered in the Whitley County loss.

#6 Owensboro Catholic 5, Ohio County 4
Luke Evans went 2-for-4 with 2 stolen bases, and Sam McFarland doubled and drove in 2 runs as the Aces held off Ohio County. Alex Castlen pitched 3 scoreless innings for the win, and Jamison struck out 6 and allowed 1 run in 3 innings of relief.

#10 Lafayette 6, Scott County 4
The Generals jumped out to a 6-0 lead then held on for the win. Owen Jenkins tripled, homered, and drove in 4 runs, Ben Prather had a RBI double, and Braden Kettenring doubled and scored 2 runs in the win. Burkley Bounds worked 4.1 scoreless innings to pick up the early season victory.

#11 Paintsville 11, Shelby Valley 1

#17 Lawrence County 15, Magoffin County 0
Nick Collinsworth went 2-for-2 with a triple and RBI, Bryce Blevins went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, Will Lafferty doubled and drove in 2 runs, and Luke Patton tripled and had 3 RBI in the rout. Talon Pollock picked up the win with 5 strikeouts in 2 scoreless innings.

#19 Sayre 5, Madison Central 4
Graham Johnson delivered a big 3-run double, and Charlie Slabaugh doubled in the Sayre victory.

#20 Central Hardin 10, Meade County 0
Ryan Bibb, Sander Lucas, and Lucas Lee each collected 2 hits, Lucas Thompson drove in 2 runs, and Kellen Brandenburg doubled and had 2 RBI in the win. Zakery Spurrier fired 4 shutout innings allowing no hits and striking out 8 to pick up the win on the mound.

#24 Ballard 14, Holy Cross 5
Kam Clark went 2-for-2 with a triple, Lavon Thomas went 3-for-5, Sam Bevin collected 2 hits and stole 3 bases, RJ Ballenger went 2-for-2 and scored 3 runs, Kevin Moore doubled and drove in 3 runs, and Stephen Hayden had a RBI triple in the win. Mason Newland picked up the victory on the mound allowing 4 earned runs over 4.2 innings.

Layton Huskisson went 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI, Brock Brubaker went 2-for-2 with a triple, Jackson Loucks went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Owen Payne went 2-for-3 with a double, and Carson Troutman went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI in the rout.

Pulaski County 9, Barren County 2
Jace Frye went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI, and Marshall Livesay collected 2 hits and drove in 2 runs in the win. Braden Hampton worked 2 scoreless innings with 2 K’s to pick up the victory.

Christian County 14, Allen County-Scottsville 11
Josh Snorton went 3-for-4 with a RBI, and Elijah Underhill and Jacob Jenkins each went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI as Christian County held on for the win.

Prestonsburg 9, Belfry 6
Nic Kidd went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, Payton Burke drove in 2 runs, and JD McKinney doubled and had 2 RBI in the win.

Elizabethtown 10, Bethlehem 7
Bryce Estes went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI, Austin Jennings went 3-for-4 with a HR and 2 RBI, and Carter Moberly went 2-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI to pace the E-Town attack. Reed Sherrard allowed 2 unearned runs with 6 K’s in 4 innings of work.

PRP 5, Nicholas County 2
Luke Hembry, Hank Burns, and Brady Fentress all doubled in the PRP victory. Christian Bixler tossed 4 scoreless innings with 8 K’s to pick up the win on the mound. Ryan Johnson hit a 2-run HR in the Nicholas County loss.

Collins 3, Eastern 2
Bradley Williams went 2-for-4, and Jordan Harris doubled in the Collins win. Carroll scattered 6 hits and allowed 2 runs over 4.1 innings, and Jacob Alvey picked up the win with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.

Boyle County 7, Marion County 3
Kason Myers went 3-for-4 with a RBI, Luke Gaffney went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, and Cole Sims doubled and drove in 2 runs in the Boyle County win. Blake Russel picked up the win on the mound working 3.2 innings of scoreless baseball with 4 K’s. Keaton Spaulding went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles in the Marion County loss.

North Bullitt 9, CAL 0
William Gibson drove in 3 runs, and Owen Barger doubled and drove in a run in the shutout win for North Bullitt. Gibson also pitched 5 scoreless innings with 4 K’s on the mound.
