Kentucky Player of the Week: Nelson County LHP/OF Jared Proctor

By Chris Fuller

You can describe Jared Proctor’s week in one simple word:  Unhittable.

In two starts last week the senior left-hander couldn’t have fared much better.  Proctor worked 13 innings without allowing a single hit in recording complete game (one was a 6-inning run rule) no-hitters in back-to-back outings.  And the impressive numbers don’t end there.  In those 13 innings on the mound, Proctor struck out a whopping 26 batters while only issuing 3 walks.  There is no question that Proctor, a University of Kentucky signee, has proven to be in mid-season form just a few weeks into the season.

Proctor was one of four players selected as a finalist for Player of the Week from the many nominations we received.  We took to twitter to allow the fans to select the honors this week.  Here are the final results.

Jared Proctor, LHP/OF, Nelson Co HS, 2014 – 243 votes
Jake Whitford, SS, Highlands HS, 2015 – 193 votes
Josiah Robbins SS, Boyle Co HS, 2016 – 132 votes
Ryan Garner, OF/LHP, McCracken Co HS – 82 votes

All four players had stellar performances for their respective teams last week, and the fans have spoken.

For his performance on the field, Jared Proctor has been selected as this week’s Prep Baseball Report Kentucky Player of the Week.
