Lindbergh wins Lindbergh-Mehlville Tournament and other game action around the state



In the championship game of the Lindbergh-Mehlville Tournament, Lindbergh’s bats continued to crush the ball, pounding Mehlville 15 to 2 to capture the tournament championship. CF Sean Murphy led the offense going three for three with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. Jay Heller picked up the win, scattering five hits over five innings.

Vianney beat up on Hazelwood West in the second place game of the Lindbergh-Mehlville Tournament, 13-1. Vianney put up two runs in the top of the third inning. CF Tyler Picha led the inning off with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by 1B Josh Giegling. After advancing to third on a throwing error, Picha scored on a sacrifice fly by RF Kevin DvorakDH Aaron Bossi followed with a double to center and C Jack Klages continued his hot streak driving in Bossi from second. Klages went three for three on the afternoon.

Vianney would pick up two more runs in the top of the fourth, extending their lead to 4-0. After consecutive singles by 3B Matt Brown and LF Petey Spradlin, SS Nick Ulrich came through with a two RBI double.

The flood gates opened up in the top of the seventh inning with Vianney nine Vianney players crossing the plate, highlighted by Tyler Pich’s two RBI double to right field. Picha finished the day three for three with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Also contributing for Vianney was Nick Ulrich, who went one for three and drove in three runs. Five Vianney players had multiple hits in the contest.

Starting pitcher Tim Agne picked up the win, going five innings and surrendering two hits. Of the fifteen outs during his outing, eight were ground balls outs.


In the Troy Tournament, Francis Howell blanked Seckman 15-0 to take the championship of the Troy Tournament. CBC took second place with a 3-2 win over Francis Howell North.


Westminster picked up their second win in two days, thumping Parkway West 17-0 inthe Parkway Tournament. Shane Benes let the attack going four for five. Tate Matheny blasted his third home run in three days, and tied the Westminster career homerun record (19). Bret Bond also blasted a homerun in for the winning cause.

Starting pitcher Ben Lovell went four innings, allowing just one hit and throwing only forty-six pitches in the contest.



Rock Bridge blanked St. Dominic 7 to 0, to go 3-0 on the season.

Sikeston evened their record at 1-1 with a 7 to 3 win against Kelly HS. Trent McMillan picked up the win on the mound.

Class Two Chaffee’s Cody Payne led the offense, going two for four at the plate, and picked up the win on the mound, surrendering only two hits against Class Four Cape Central, 7 to 2.

Kennett defeated Dexter, 4-3.
